Vidya Balan to reprise Sridevi's iconic role in 'Sadma' remake?

Grapevine is abuzz with rumours that Vidya Balan is under consideration to reprise Sridevi's iconic role from Sadma (1983) in the remake of the movie. Sridevi plays a young woman who reverts to childhood after suffering a head injury. As a remake of the movie is on the cards, ad film-maker Lloyd Baptista, who is making the film, is on the lookout for leading actors who can aptly play the main characters. Apparently, Vidya is the right choice to play Sridevi's part!

A source to a leading daily has revealed, "Vidya is one of the leading names on his list. They also met recently to discuss the movie". [sic] It is said that Vidya is a huge fan of Sridevi and hence, she is apprehensive to take up the role.

"She isn't keen to take up the role right now. She feels that no one will be able to match Sridevi's performance. Also, Vidya's hands are full currently. She will be working on three films this year. She is also looking to work on original scripts", added the source. [sic]

Directed by Balu Mahendra, this film that had Sridevi and Kamal Haasan in the leads and is considered by many critics as Sridevi's finest performance. The film is the story of Nehalata (Sridevi), a young woman who regresses to childhood after suffering a head injury in a car crash.
