Darshan Kumar to star in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 'Sarabjit' biopic

Darshan Kumar rose to fame in the film 'Mary Kom' with Priyanka Chopra.

Darshan Kumar, who rose to fame with the Priyanka Chopra-starrer Mary Kom, has bagged something big for his next big role, as he will be seen in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's much talked about biopic on Sarabjit Singh.

Insiders revealed that Darshan will be playing Khalid Pervaiz, a Pakistani lawyer, who was a big supporter of Sarabjit's sister's fight to free him from the Pakistani jail. The news was also confirmed by the director Omung Kumar, who said the NH10 star gave an outstanding performance in his previous flick, so he was certain that he would take him for his upcoming flick.

The biopic Sarbjit is expected to be released in May 2016.

Darshan Kumar excited to share screen space with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Mumbai: Actor Darshan Kumar, who played Priyanka Chopra's husband in 'Mary Kom', feels lucky to be sharing screen space with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in an upcoming biopic on Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh.

Based on the story of Sarabjit, who was convicted of terrorism by the Pakistani court, the film will be directed by Omung Kumar.

"I feel lucky, blessed to be working with Aishwarya. I am excited as well as nervous about working with her. She is a talented actress. It's a big film and a great opportunity for me as an actor," Darshan told PTI.

The biopic has Aishwarya playing the role of Dalbir Kaur, while Randeep Hooda plays her brother and Sarabjit, the protagonist.

Darshan will be portraying the role of Khalid Pervaiz, a Pakistani lawyer who fights for Sarabjit's justice.
