Sanjay Dutt biopic will be most entertaining film: Hirani

Rajkumar Hirani, director of films like Munnabhai series, 3 Idiots and PK, is currently working on the 5th film of his career which will be biopic on actor and friend Sanjay Dutt.

The director has said that he was uncomfortable when it came to dealing with the underworld' side of Dutt's life.

"I was a little skeptical initially. I didn't want to touch upon the topic of the underworld as that's not my favourite word. However, when Abhijat (Joshi) and I heard the story, we met Sanjay Dutt almost every evening for the next 25 days and later found that this is a story we wanted to say because it's a human story. This will be the most entertaining film we ever did" Hirani said at 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.

The director was quick to add that he would not make a film to elevate somebody as a person or to clear Sanjay Dutt's image in the eyes of the public.

"I will make a film which is honest. I take five years to make a movie. Spending so much time on a movie because I want a great story" he added.

Hirani also said that he never makes films to please anyone.

"Never make films to please others. You're the best judge of what will work and if you think what you've written will click, then do it"

Speaking along with his writing partner Abhijat Joshi on How to make a blockbuster', Hirani shared the secret behind the blockbuster formula.

"It's simple. If you're a filmmaker, remember that you can never attempt to make a blockbuster. Abhijat and I always like to work on a unique idea for our films. Even if these ideas have been attempted before, you just have to choose a different path to tell them" Hirani said.
