Ranbir has had more hits and bigger hits in a shorter span of time, therefore just based on these facts, Ranbir.

Shaandar looks more interesting than Tamasha...the music is also better so maybe Shahid will get a better opening this time? Alia and Deepu both have BO pull so it comes down to the male leads, who can pull the viewers to the theater this time...Imtiaz is more intellectual director, Vikas seems to be more fun loving.

It's more than just male lead making difference for Shandaar vs Tamasha.

Shandaar has been overdrive promotions and hit dance numbers, with a fun zany vibe.

Tamasha looks like a trainwreck even from the trailer. Ranbir can't so much of the trailer itself fails. Not to mention the music seems like a damp squib.

What backing has RK got, does RK banner make films for
him or has his dad ever recommended him. Whatever films he's got is cos of his talent. Kjo signed him cos he delivered a BB with Yjhd, Imtiaz repeated him cos of his award winning performance in Rockstar, Basu is working with him again cos if Barfi's critical and commercial success Raju hirani signed him cos he feels he is the most talented actor of his gen. I m sure people who signed him and invested their money know what they are doing.

What has he got on platter apart from his debut film? Care to explain? Some of his best works are with newcomer directors or with PH he has been successful with. Ayaan, Imtiaz, Anurag, even Prakash jha got their biggest hits with RK. Not only commercial success he has got critical acclaim too from these films no wonder they want to repeat him like VB does with Shahid. Pankaj has more goodwill then Rishi 😆 he is best friends with Vishal. Most of these directors RK has worked with won't give two hoots about his surname if he didn't deliver in the first place except for KJO. And yes once he starts giving flops year after year these people will desert him too.
