How is it a joke? You don't feel proud nobody can do anything about that but many of Indians as well as abroad ar feeling proud- whether you like it or not.

The first reply is bang on- Praising PC doesn't take away the credit from the other Indians...

If PC was there cause of ads or beauty pageants, that would not have been a big deal but this is a TV show. One where she was chosen wholly for her talent which she has worked her butt off on. Art, theatre & movies are an equally important profession/career. Nobody is inferior or superior in the work they do! PC has excelled in the work she was supposed to do & worked hard at it. That's her line! How is it fair to compare here to Google/ Microsoft CEO's? Aise toh there would be no value for sportsmen bringing medals to India too. What she has done is a first time for India so obviously it is a proud moment for all of us.

BW is looked at in such a bad light sometimes - it is always defined as song & dance! PC is proving them what talented actors our industry consists of! That we are not behind in the entertainment field too.

Also this is a BW forum- so obv people are going to talk about PC & her achievements here & not about Google/Microsoft CEO's o.O

Whilst I wouldn't actually call myself an 'avid' fan of PC, I'm actually very proud of her for bagging the lead role in an American series, yeah it's slightly an overstatement saying that she is making India proud, but hey! She's doing her job as an actress and we should respect that and support her and her ventures (if you're a fan obviously!!)

I am equally proud of PC as I am of the OTHER Indians making us proud. Along with Sundar Pichhai and so many other successful Indians...there's a girl who is representing Indian Film Fraternity with so much elegance and grace. Being a non-fan, I am proud of her as an Indian.

Not to forget that the USA was flooded with flyers of an Indian Girl on the poster. Isnt that something to be proud. She didn't just get a role, she got the LEAD role. <3

Not a fan of PC but must say she has come a long way.the way she comes across in local channel's interviews is also surprisingly nice.her accent is less fake than aish and thankfully she is not giggling and most importantly hasn't painted her face white with make up..

PC's achievements doesn't correlate to those Indians in other field. And each of them do give a sense of pride. Because these individuals are opening up doors to many more Indians and giving them a belief of carving a niche for themselves in all these diverse fields.

PC is headlining a solo show on a mainstream channel . She is getting glowing reviews, all on her talent and she be really selling it well in the interviews too.

Women of colour are finally getting a foothold but for an Indian actor it's something beyond amazing , they would be seen in normal roles and as lead actors rather than the usual stereotyping. If it was tough for Viola Davis, KW to break out , it was tougher for someone like PC. Her one small step do give boast to other Indians that they to can break that bastion. Globalized world , it's not expanding horizons.

Also, kinda gives a sense of pride to the NRIs all across , it's emotional and you feel at home and perhaps equality too. Paradox but well.
