😒 Yash Chopra was one of my favorite directors and his death came at a time which was unfortunate. After JTHJ, we wondered why that movie was so bad and it didn't do him justice being his last film. What happened to the brilliant director who made gems like Lamhe, Chandni, etc.? Later movies he made like DTPH and Veer Zaara were decent, but certainly better than JTHJ. A lot of heroines longed to work with him. He wasn't that old when he died. But he had medical problems and was in bad health. What is Yash Chopra's best movie (as a director)? Please share your thoughts. 😊

It's ironic how Yash Chopras is associated mostly with romance esp after giving iconic movies in other genres. Frankly if I had to chose his three most defining work I would gladly choose Waqt, Deewar and Trishul. When it comes to romance Silsila and Lamhe are the only ones I like to an extent. Frankly Yash Chopra brand of romance is too cheesy and unreal for me most of the times. But yes he presented his leading ladies beautifully.

Overall, his best movie to date is LAMHE. Till date, it seems like it was shot recently and the acting is top notch, dialogs rich and everything is just right. MASTERPIECE.

His best decade was in the 70s and redeemed 80s with Silsila, Chandni. In 90s, only liked Darr. I notice that he produced more quality back when he didn't have Aditya Chopra as a writer. Once Adi grew up, all his movies started becoming cheesy. I understand Adi wanted to bring more contemporariness to his productions but besides costumes and locales, the stories and dialogs didn't stand the test of time. DTPH is all fluff with great music... VZ...decent, but felt it was overrated. I fell asleep while watching that movie. JTHJ was utter nonsense...IMO critics held back a bit out of respect for Yashji's death... but had he been alive, he would have received very scathing reviews... perhaps the movie even being termed as Yash Chopra Ki Aag😆

Yash Chopra was a decent director. He was overhyped but he handled romance like no other. He brought the gloss, glamorization, foreign location to Hindi Cinema but little to contents. Later in his career he played safe, very safe and sticked only to the material he can brilliantly handle. Having said that his movies have some poetic pure moments which very few directors can produce. His heroines looked great. Also he had a great ear for music. Most of his movies have good to great music.

My all-time favourite of Yash Chopra is Lamhe. I quite enjoyed DTPH, Veer Zara, Deewar, Silsila too. But with all respect to the dead director, JTHJ was a utter crap only saving grace being a lip smacking SRK

The disappointment that was JTHJ still pinches me because I so badly wanted Yashji's last to be a masterpiece. I haven't seen many of his older works (Daag, Kaala Patthar, Silsila, Kabhie Kabhie, Chandni, etc) and they're forever on my to-watch list. I have seen all his YRF romances 90s onwards and loved them.

My absolute favourite film of his is Lamhe. My sisters and I as kids would watch it every single day. I am not joking! My parents had a tape of it (VCR it was called I think) and we would watch it over lunch after we came back from school.

It's followed closely by Veer-Zaara. VZ isn't as flawless as Lamhe but overall, the film really touched me in a way very few have.

Yash Chopra is one of my favorite directors... No one could make romantic movies like he did... I had lots of expectation of JTHJ... but I dont know really what happened... No offence, I would have been happier if he had taken some one else other than Katrina.. But this movie is not just abt who was in cast, or quality of acting, but the story itself lacked I think. It was not strong enough for Yash Chopra brand.. Was quite disappointed..
But my best Yash Chopra movie till date is Veer Zaara.. I have watched at least 10 times..😊

Yash ji's best movies as a director were Waqt, Ittefaq, Darr, Daag, Deewar.
Ittefaq was a brilliant psychological thriller without any songs!

JTHJ was really bad because of the bad script, completely senseless story and Kat-SRK pairing looked horrible, only Anu-SRK scenes were tolerable.
Yash Chopra died of complications from dengue.

He has shot in Switzerland so many times that a lake in the Alpenrausch, a favourite shooting spot of his, has been christened Chopra Lake.

Also, Jungfrau Railways in Switzerland inaugurated a train named after Yash Chopra. With his signature and name on a signboard, the train was launched by him.

I loved Darr. 😊 A great film and SRK was awesome as the villain. 😲
