His next two roles are very different. But to be fair, everything about Brothers looked great on paper. He definitely showed some nervousness during promotions and he mentioned it a couple of times that he put a whole year into this film and he hopes it pays off. But he also said that based on everything that was presented to him he really couldn't say no. And I think he's right. Agneepath's director, an Akshay Kumar action film, a big banner film, etc etc.

@Swati, forget months ago. Even as late as two days before the release the movie was expected to make it to the 120-130 cr mark. And that is obviously a major struggle now, if not impossible.

It is what it is. It's a set back for everyone involved, but no one's career is over after one flop. I think they will all be fine.

Jackie shroff ruined the movie more than anyone else

He was properly used in dhoom 3 and HNY but too much screen time and look what happens 😆 😆

The movie was never my type...but for Sid's sake and seeing the response to the trailer I was hoping it would do well. No chance now...

Well, I don't know how accurate their break down is here. But it seems like no one is losing money here. It's just that their margin of profits is not going to be as high as they thought it would be.

Brothers went down on it Sunday at India Box office but still created many records.

Budget: 82 Crore All inclusive

On its First Sunday Brothers went down by 26% as compared to its first saturday which was a big national holiday but despite this first weekend is second highest first weekend of 2015 as well as the biggest first weekend in the career of Akshay Kumar and Siddharth Malhotra.

Usually after a national holiday movie does drops but only problem is that this was a Sunday which is also a holiday.

Records:

First Weekend box office collections are 2nd Highest of 2015 behind only Bajrangi Bhaijaan and ahead of ABCD 2, Gabbar is Back and baby

First Weekend is the biggest ever weekend for Akshay Kumar ahead of rowdy rathore which had collected 46.04 Crore.

First Weekend is the biggest ever weekend for Siddharth Malhotra ahead of Ek Villain which had collected 49.28 Crore.

On its day 2 it was the first time ever that Akshay Kumar or Siddharth Malhotra's movie collected more than 20 crore in a day.


Trade Expectations:

With its high cost and National Holiday release it was expected that Brothers should match singham Returns of 2015 which had a 76 crore + opening weekend when releasing in the same period but it failed to do that.

This has come as bit of a disappointment to trade which had put Brothers on course to do a minimum of 60 crores in its first weekend and the total is around 9-10 crores less.

13.68 Crore ( Trade Figure)

3850 out of which 3400 Pan India + 450 overseas

Brothers Budget :
82 Crores Total out of which production Cost: 65 Crores and prints and Advertising Cost 17 Crore.

Brothers is the most expensive movie for Akshay Kumar as the budget is more than both Baby and Gabbar is Back.

Akshay Kumar's current salary is estimated to be in the range of 25 Crores and is part of total budget.

Brothers Economics: (Profit and Loss Analysis):

Producers of Brothers are already safe and have made pre release profit by selling off satellite rights and music for 42 Crores and Distribution Rights for 55 Crores.

Pre release Profit for Producers: 15 Crores

India and overseas rights for brothers have been sold to Fox Star at 55 Crores.

Fox Star would need to recover this purely from Theatrical Business in india and overseas to have a recovery.

Shows online popularity doesn't reflect much in real world. Akshay being 2nd on Ormax & Sid having more fan following than Varun & Ranbir online didn't do much for their film 😛😆
