Swades was never pitched as a film for masses. It was more of an educational kind of film. SRK charged very less for doing that movie. You know like Aamir did Dhobhi Ghaat. They knew its a different type of film which is not for everybody.

Billu wasn't a SRK's film. It was Irfan's movie. Everybody agreed that MAMK wasn't a salman's film so why not use the same logic here?

Paheli was the only one which didn't perform.
