They were best friends, and they were still best friends when Esha debuted. However when Kareena got REALLY popular something did happen between them and Kareena rose and Esha sank. Nobody knows what happened - maybe they drifted apart?>

And Esha Deol slapped Amrita Rao on the sets of Pyare Mohan - and I believe it was because Amrita called her a s**t.

I think Bollywood makes it very difficult for actresses to be friends. While the males enjoy longer lifespan and can continue to work in different genres and have separate niches, actresses generally (more so back in early 2000 than today actually) all clamor for a similar niche. To work in big films. Now this is changing thanks to Vidya, PC, Kangana and the likes. But they're exceptions.

Kareena and Esha were two starkids raised with a silver spoon. Don't know about Esha, but Bebo was an immature brat with a THIRST to be the best in Bollywood. 20 something year olds are hardly geared to be able to handle this kind of success and fame.

It's not that difficult to believe they had a falling out since both were competing as debutantes.

Amrita Arora on the other hand was never in the same league. It was easier to be friends with someone your'e not competing with.

Now that's not to say their friendship is fickle and based only on that. The fact that Amrita and Kareena have been friends for 11 years proves they are indeed very good and true friends. Most friendships don't last this long, even for non-Bollywood folks.

i think that is the only reason why kareena is friends with amrita otherwise she herself told she has no friends in bollywood..
