I think he too early started playing sidekick roles in his career after which ppl never accepted him as a solo lead. Even his debut was in a 2 hero film.

BTW , he did tried a commercial movie in Bullet raja which was a superflop .

Christmas and Independence day aren't that big of holidays in India, unlike Diwali and Eid. Most movies will only survive if they have good content.. which wasn't the case with these two, Sunny.

Saif doesn't do solo movies made for mass audience.. maybe that's why. Once he does, then we can judge.
