Indira has been termed Iron Lady in Indian History. Now I very well believe Congress manipulated a lot behind this. But, It was in school books.
I will give my own example.
I, as a kid was in awe of her when I studied the history of her. I told the same to my father. And then he told me, She is not all that great that she is made out to be.
Bhinderwale might have been wrong for Khalistani movement. But it was Indira behind him. She fed him, supported him and took the benefit till she can. But when he started Khalistani movement, she did the Bluestar operation which she was advised against.
Even the emergency decision of hers was absolutely selfish. For her own Political power.
Now, I am a Gujju. Wasn't born in 1984 but I know this as my Father told me so. That is my knowledge source. How many do you think is aware of this? One can not expect everyone who was not closely affected by 1984 to be well known of her wrong doings.
What followed after her death was again some politicians monetary gain. For their power. Still, No matter what, it was wrong in all levels. Indira and her family must be condemned for it.
But Amitabh was responsible for citing hate speech on TV and All-India Radio is news to me. I came to know of it some times before. That's definitely shocking. I don't know if I believe it or not, yet. Not because of lack of proof. Those can be very well manipulated. But it does not fit in anywhere. Wouldn't there be outrage for him in people, if he said so?
Now I can believe of what some of you are saying.. but to change the face of history is not easy. I am still not able to wrap my mind around it. You can not get angry coz I am not accepting it. I need some concrete base to accept he said that. (and his image, celebrity status has nothing to do with it. I hardly care for celebrities)
I can understand many of you here who has faced it. Or Whose families have faced it.
I had a Sikh friend in college. I asked him once, 'doesn't it anger you when you think about 1984?' Then he told me. "It does but I am happy being Indian. I lost family members. But to say some of us were wrong too in supporting Khalistan movement. I can not support them. I absolutely dislike Gandhi family but I do not hold any other Indian citizen account for it."
And I really liked his outlook. 😊
I lived in Gujarat during, before and after the 2002 riots. Riots were always there in Gujarat pre-2002 too. Some placed were never safe. Now some people can blame Modi. I don't. Coz he did not ask citizens to do so. In my city for 2 days nothing happened. We were still going out freely until some outside crazies came and started attacking communities. I do not hold any community responsible except this gundas and haters. Now they don't represent any community for me.
And after 2002, Gujarat is the safest place. Not a single incident of Riots. Girls still roam around at midnight freely. Why wouldn't I like a CM who worked hard to make it a safe place? Media never covers this. But please go and ask in Gujarat, are you happy? And hardly anyone would deny so.
Some members here are getting aggressive about not believing that AB Sr. gave hate speeches. And Judging someone for being NaMo fan.
Now if people are saying why can't you believe someone who lived in Punjab in 1984 then I can say the same. Why can't you believe me for 2002 riots in Gujarat? Why take Media at face value?
I know its not easy. Like I said, one can not change the face of History just by reading stuff online. I agree Indira was wrong. But How much AB Sr. was involved in inciting genocide, I am not sure! I do need a concrete base to believe it.
Yes it was her own political agenda for more power! Someone knows more beyond what Indian text books teach ! 👏 👏
