Costume designer for 'Don', Aki Narula talks about dressing the molls
Aki Narula is a wanted man. But before the police forces of 11 countries rush to arrest him, let's clarify why. Not only did the talented designer style the principal characters of the film, he's responsible for dressing the entire cast (all except Kareena Kapoor). So with around 100 henchmen and goons on his scissor tips, we got him to unravel the looks of Don's two molls – Priyanka Chopra and Isha Koppikar.
Revenge-ridden Roma
"Priyanka Chopra's character Roma is on the war path and for her nothing could be girly, frilly or frou frou. She has extremely stark, structured clothes in basic, muted colours. Black, white, beige and coral red were her forte – no pinks or pastels here."
Hot fave: "My favourites for Priyanka were the long, backless coral dress for the 'Main Hoon Don' song and a very short, striking silver dress with a mandarin collar and a racer back."
Glam-doll Anita
"Isha Koppikar's character Anita is a glam puss from the word go. She's heavily styled in each shot – be it with accessories, outfits or make-up. Her character (like all the others in the film) doesn't go through any costume transitions in the film and her look is very set – she's stylish no matter what. For her, we used very interesting elements like woven shrugs over a printed bikini, a gun metal grey outfit and others. Though she's styled, her clothes are not over-the-top."
Hot fave: "I really like Isha's forties flapper dress in black with gold trim around the voluminous skirt."
