Bollywood is more concerned with looks than acting! True!

First of all let me start by saying all the new aspirants look the same. Its getting harder and harder to differentiate one from the other. It's like they're all coming from the same Grooming factory. About the same height, weight, six packs, same hairstyle, a bit of a stubble. Being superficial is one thing, but spitting out clones and more clones of Hrithik Roshan is just boring.

In the 90's they had the romantic guys, the Khan's. The Manly men, Sunny Deol Sunjay Dutt. The everyday men, Anil Kapoor. The intense looking Ajay Devgan. The womanly looking Saif and in between all this you had a chubby Govinda dancing to 'Meri Pant bhi Sexy'.

Across the atlantic, you still have the pretty boys but you also have the Seth Rogens & The Jonah Hills. Bollywood should stop factorizing their talent. I'm tired of looking at the Sids, the Varuns, the Ranbirs, The Ranveers and more and more clones of the same. Variety is the spice of life, Bollywood.

Agree ..but some step has been taken to move on with actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rajkumar Rao making the grade in recent years.

Govinda = Varun Tera Hero

Anil Kapoor = Sushant, he looks like an everyday man

Saif = Ranbir Kapoor, he is very womanly looking

Sunny Deol and Sunjay Dutt = After Brothers Sid might fall into this category.

The Khans = Aditya Roy Kapur after Fitoor maybe, or even Sid after his Excel film with Katrina.

I'm only talking personas and not star power or talent at all. And honestly my post is intended more to be numerous than serious 😆. But, I think in the 90s actors didn't experiment as much. Each person stuck to the genres they were comfortable with. These days the, the new generation tries different things and doesn't want to get pigeon holed.

Then we have the likes of Rajkumar Rao and Nawazudding who are just talent.

Guys like RR & Dhanush will never make it except for supporting roles.

I'm sure the new talent will experiment with roles but maybe they should experiment with their looks too. Its such a generic, boring look. Ranveer is the only one who changes it up.

From the incredibly good looking sid, fawad and ark to the goofy looking ranbir to the extremely chocolaty and cute imran to the unconventional looking but charming ranveer to the average looking but rugged varun to the below average lookers but brilliant in acting nawaz and dhanush

We need to stop being over critical with the present. We aren't doing that bad. However, not preaching. To each his own.

RR or Nawazuddin might not make it the way Salman or Aamir or Anil has. But the type of scripts and roles that are available in Bollywood now they have the potential to make their own mark and it will be based on talent. They could be the equivalent of a Philip Seymore Hoffman (minus his tragic end) in Bollywood. Not conventionally good looking but making a huge impact in story driven roles.

As for experimenting with looks, well I feel like Sid and Ranveer are. From shaving your head for a role to bulking up and then losing it all for the next film. I think Sid's looks in Brothers will be very different than Kapoor & Sons. Even Guru in Ek Villain looked different than Nikhil in Hassee To Phasee.

disagree... Ranveer Singh doesn't appear same with anyone... neither he dresses the same nor he follows any usually suspected path...he did lootera and ramleela.. then did what his heart said in gunday n killdil (compare the roles and looks in these 4 movies)...he was the first mainstream bollywood actor who endorsed condom without giving a damn... he was the first in newbies to flaunt a moustached character and pull it off...he was thin n lean during BBB, now he has completely changed his physique since ramleela (compare bbb days n now)...we haven't seen that kind of transformation in looks in any actor from the present lot... after just 5 films, he is attempting a period character from 1700s where he will have a choti in head..imagine how bad it might look but the guy doesn't care.
dunno about others, but he is carving his own niche...i predict he will excel in thrillers like ajay, sunny in future and leave romantic genre...

you are bit too anxious at this point i reckon... it will take another 5 years to stabilise then we can see the actors going into one genre or the other...

bro, just in another thread... girls were cursing😆 because Sid wore a shirt with parrot printed in it... so u can imagine how difficult it is for actors to bring variety,... everyone wears the same suit, everyone craves to look great 24/7, most short actors wear high heeled shoes to project tallness... 90s actors didn't have that issue... they were comfortable in their skin and their target was to attract public with their movies and acting...

I agree...we have the tendency to idealize the past as perfect. But thats not so. And neither is the present so bad. Only thing I agree with the TM is on six-packs...I can do without them in every male star. Its boring...fit is what stars should aim to be. Varun in Badlapur over Varun with six packs in SOTY/MTH.
