Like I said, Aish and Madhuri never really had the type of opportunities that they do now with all the experimenting. They had Saroj, Farah, Shamiak and a few others...but it was most classical or BW dancing with some fushion but if given the opportunity I'm sure they could.

Madhuri was unfortunate that she didn't get the opportunities like today's actresses, that I agree. But Aish, no I think she experimented a lot. She was stupendous in Taal- Indian, Western every dance form - that one film is enough to show Aish's range as a dancer. she tried folk with Nimbura, western with Dhoom 2 songs- what else is there to prove? She was disappointing in Umrao-Jaan, but I'll blame the choreographers for it. I refuse to believe that she couldn't pull of authentic mujra in the film- it was incompetence form Baivabi Merchant;s side IMO.

Madhuri was excellent in Prabhu Deva Song- that was something different from what we generally expect from her. My personal favorite Madhuri song is from "Saajan"- and not many consider this song among Madhuri's bests. So I think its about your personal preference. I for one found Chikni Chameli steps repetitive and all those gyrating kat did in kamli was anything but dance. I like Katrina Kaif , she works hard with her steps and is improving too but still Madhuri and Ash are lightyears ahead.

mads simply kills ash in this dept.

the grace, the expressions, the smooth moves, western, classical, nautanki dances 😆 you name it, she got it. her dances doesn't look labored.

I think Madhuri has had more intensive training than Aish when its comes to Indian. I will give it to Madhuri here.

I believe Aish has excelled in western as well Crazy Kiya re was one example.

I think it's unfair to compare Maduri and AIsh in Dola Re. Maduri was heavier and had children at that time. She is older than Aish too. So of course the slim Aish would move better than Maduri. Compare them when they are both young. Maduri still held her own in Dola Re though.

That said I would still vote for Aish as the better dancer because she nails both the indian and western dance though Maduri didn't really have many western dances in her career.

However, I rather watch Maduri over Aish because Maduri lights up the screen in her songs; her expressions are not as harsh and strong as Aish and she is more fun to watch. Better expresssions than Aish overall.

It's a tough one though comparing their dance skills. Maduri is still an amzing dancer.

I'm only saying Katrina is superior in Western and hip-hop forms. Like Ishq Shava and Kamli. I think those were superior to Key Sera and Krazy. But like I said I think Aish and Madhuri excel in classical and BW forms.

It is Aishwarya for me all the way!

She is the most versatile dancer I have ever seen.. someone who can nail almost any kind of dance form right from- Bharatnatyam ,Kathak to Mujra to Western to Flamenco etc.

She was fire in Crazy Kiya Re. A stunning picture of grace, expressions, ada in films like HDDCS, Devdas, UJ etc. Fabulous in songs like Naina Miley etc Bewitching in Udi. ...Kannamoochi, Iruvar songs, Dhol Baaje, Barso Re, Kalvare etc etc etc List is looong!

Madhuri is an exceptional dancer too. She is excellent in Indian dances but lags a little a Western dance forms imo. But she is definitely one of the greatest dancers Indian cinema has seen.

So Ash totally wins for me because of her versatility and also love the fluidity, expressions in her dances more.

I am not going to say anything, but I believe the one who has mentioned Kat doesn't know a thing about dances.

Dancing is not about shaking vigorously having absolutely no expressions at all. Kat can only do one thing : that is shake like a washing machine drum. Though she has got better , whatever she does is far from DANCE.. Kamli( also not the forget the body doubles they used here), SKJ looked like aerobics with just no grace or expressions.
