Guess Who?

A handful of people decided to team up and make a film based on a real-life character. Everything was spelt out and they were all on the same page even though nothing except the leading actor and director had been finalised. The producers decided to keep mum on the project till it went on floors. But this director, whose career was in the doldrums but got lucky with one film, went ahead and announced the film.

Nah, this wasn't the real shocker. What took his team completely by surprise was his going about town, claiming he would be writing, directing and producing the film! Well, the director's move was obviously suicidal for, soon after he started blabbing, his team has replaced him with another big name. An announcement will be made soon!

The director probably assumed that since he had become a big shot overnight, no one would challenge him. Still, he was shown the door.

Anthony D'Souza to direct Mohammad Azharuddin's biopic

Anthony D'Souza, whose last outing was the Akshay Kumar starrer Boss, is now scripting his next for Balaji Motion Pictures " a biopic on Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The film that goes on floor next year will have Emraan Hashmi playing the lead.
"I was committed to do a film with Balaji and then this biopic worked out. I am scripting the story with Rajat Arora. But I want to clarify that I am not a great friend of Mohammad Azharuddin as reported. I only know him as an ardent fan. His story will make for a gripping film as he has had many ups and downs in his life. The film will cover his entire journey. Right now, we are not looking at highlighting anything in particular," said D'Souza adding that he was in touch with the cricketer to know more about him.
Emraan Hashmi, who will be playing Azharuddin, will attend many workshops to get under the skin of the character. "Emraan is a very methodical actor and I know he will do everything to perfect his part."
