Aamir Khan is on every director's wishlist. From older, established names to those with just one film to their credit, everyone dreams of directing this passionate actor in one of their films. Trouble is, he does very few, so to even green-light him for one is a lengthy process that can take anything from three to five years.
Does he have a wishlist of directors he wants to work with? He reveals the list, although a little reluctantly, "I don't think like that. To me, it is always the script that has to interest me and then the vision of the director. But there are so many talented directors I would love to work with, especially some of the young directors. Ayan Mukerji is very good. I believe Sharat Katariya, this boy who has made Adi's (Aditya Chopra) film Dum Laga Ke Haisha is very talented. I believe that is a very good film. Then, of course, there's Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor). I have seen Kai Po Che. There is so much young talent coming in...
Have any actors impressed Mr Perfectionist? Does he see himself in any of them? "Myself? No I don't see myself in any of them and thank God for that. I think they are very talented and they don't even need any part of me in them but in the younger generation who I really like is, I like Ranbir (Kapoor), I like Imran (Khan). I also like Ayushmann (Khurranna). I also like Sushant (Singh Rajput), he is very good. In fact, all those three boys in Kai Po Che, Sushant, Amit Sadh and Rajkummar Rao are all very good."
