Ayushmann Khurrana is back. That too sooner than later. In an unprecedented move, his film Dum Laga Ke Haisha has been advanced by a couple of months. Fortunately for him though, the film's promos have managed to make an instant mark, especially with songs turning out to be popular. Playing a small town boy for the first time ever, Ayushmann is finding himself in an altogether different milieu in this Yash Raj Films affair.
Vicky Donor, Nautanki Saala, Hawaizaada and Dum Laga Ke Haisha - You seem to picking up unconventional subjects.
This is the age of unconventional cinema. Last year Queen, PK and Haider were unconventional too. I believe that is something which works. Audience has become much more intelligent than ever. They know what is truly different and there can't be anything more novel than the films I am picking up currently.
Isn't it a risk though? Don't you feel like picking on a conventional film or two intermittently?
(Pauses) I realize that a conventional film will work only if you are a superstar or your script is a superstar.
Though you are seeing two of your films arrive almost back to back, you did take a break after Bewakoofiyaan that released a year ago.
I did shoot for Dum Laga Ke Haisha in the interim period. In any case, my films have been sporadic. I have had one release a year. In fact with Hawaizaada and Dum Laga Ke Haisha, it would be for the first time that I would have two films in a year and that too in the first half itself.
What happens next?
Come March-April and I would be kick-starting the shoot of Agra Ka Dabra.
