Shamitabh....

Amitabh Bachchan's Shamitabh has collected around 4 - 4.25 crore on its opening day at the box office, as per early estimates. The film has performed well in the South, where Dhanush commands a good fan following.

At other places, the film opened slow and didn't show much growth through the day. As expected, multiplex business was better as compared to single-screens. Rajasthan has collected around 15 lakhs on Day 1 as per early estimates. C.P and C.I circuits were dull too. Mumbai was better than north India.

Tomorrow will be crucial for a multiplex film like Shamitabh. Bachchan's last few films like Bhoothnath Returns and Paa showed tremendous growth both on Saturday and Sunday. The reports for Shamitabh isn't close to as good as Paa, so it remains to be seen where the film goes in the long run.

Shamitabh is yet another Eros International film. They haven't got the economics of their films right for more than a year now.
