The collections are not that bad. I was expecting much worse. The 4 o clock show I went on the day it released had half the cinema full with sold out shows in the evening. 😃 I watched the film on the big screen coz usually when I make trips to India, none of my favorites have films releasing 😆

Coming to the film, it isn't gripping enough. I enjoyed watching Arjun in this masala action hero lover-boy role. He was pretty good in the shoes of Pintu which reminded me of Parma sometimes but less uncouth. Sonakshi was okay. I mean, she played the role of a soft-spoken girl who is on the run from Bajpayee's character because he wants to forcefully marry her. She bumps into Pintu who takes it upon himself to reach her to safety.

There is WAY way way too many fight scenes in the film. See, if an Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan is doing a long fight scene then it's engaging and stylish but it's different if you have someone like Arjun doing it. Seeing him beat up countless numbers of people is tiresome. And it just never ends especially near the climax. He beats people. Bajpayee beats him up and stabs him. He gets up again and beats Bajpayee. Also, the film is somewhat like that too - you think it's coming to an end but it isn't. Like that part where Arjun drops Sona off at the airport and they confess their love. You sort of expect it to end 5 mins after but there's still a whole good 15 mins of the movie left where 2/3rds of that is fighting.

The editing, direction is shoddy. Some plus points were the songs - I liked Superman, Madamiyaan, Joganiyaan quite a lot. Arjun looks like he's having tons of fun while he's dancing which is charming. I really enjoyed his moves. 😆 Oh and Shruti and Arjun should do a movie together - they looked really nice in that item song. Lets Celebrate was kinda random but mkay.

Performances. Arjun was great. Giving it his all. I just found his dialogue delivery weak when he was introducing himself to Sonakshi in the van. Sonakshi had a larger role here than in previous masala movies but she doesn't display anything that'd make her stand out. Although I will give her this - she looks really pretty when she cries and she did that almost throughout the film. Arjun's sister was supposed to be funny I guess but I didn't really find her all that. She was more irritating.

Raj Babbar was awesome as the stern father and Bajpayee was hilarious at some points. Especially when he smiles goofily and his fashion sense. And when he refuses to wear his pants (🤓) and walks around in his shorts in some scenes. Dialogues were teek taak - the kabbadi one didn't catch on. I had met Arjun the day before the film released when he was doing a meet and greet - he is quite bulky on and off screen and should work on slimming down a little like them Ishaqzaade days

Despite the movie being predictable (I don't take points of for that because I like the storytelling more), the film is pretty bland and tedious with only a few high points. 2.5/5.

😆 i was thinking the samething just because it is a biopic it is not necessarily going to be good.
Recent example being Mary Kom - that lady deserved better than that melodramatic movie. A bad director and that is what you got even with a dedicated actress.
I really feel sad when legends are portrayed like caricatures or larger than life when not needed. Their story is inspiring enough.

Next I feel apprehensive about is Neeraja's story - why mess with someone's legacy with a subpar product?

On topic - feel bad for Arjun - he needs to reinvent himself me thinks.
Just looking at the trailors and songs the movie looks dated.

Right now though biopics sound more appealing though. Every life has a separate story to tell. Much better than repetitive masala films or romantic films.
