As far as I know, Deepika has always praised the other actresses, she has said she looks up to Ash even during RL interviews, when she had come to Simi show, when she was asked what she learns from her contemporaries, she said how to work hard by Katrina n how to look good onscreen naturally from Kareena.. Says a lot about what sort of a human being she is.. Haters gonna hate no matter what... What is there to butter, she is not gaining anything from buttering anyone...

FYI: This isn't the first time she's said something nice about her. She's used her as anexample for the model turn actress before too. I don't think she's gonna achieve anything about sucking up to her. It might actually be a geniune admiration.

I can def get behind Aish the brand but i cannot get behind Aish the actress. She makes me cringe every time i watch a movie. Its forced and contrived. as much as i loved HDDS and her chemistry with Devgan (yes, i liked them together-they were hot), i squirmed in my seat when she had those peppy scenes. And TAAL (loved her with Akshay Khanna as well), was beyond terrible. The saving grace of that film was Anil, Akshaye and the music. Aishwaryas beauty certainly helped. She was MUCH better as Paro but i feel she failed when compared to Madhuri. Madhuri was natural and subtle in her emotions. I watched Raincoat as well, that movie was whack. She had one face throughout the whole movie. Devdas remains her best performance to date. Anything before and after hasn't been memorable.
She's been producing crap lately. The only reason theres so much hype around her return is because 'distance makes the heart fonder.' People should just go back and watch that movie she did was Akshay Kumar (forgot name).

Deepika is actually a better actress than Aish. She's shown improvement at a much greater rate than Ash did.

Agreed. She has done excelled in so many movies, in a variety of roles; across languages and industries. Provoked, Chokher Bali, Kandukondian, Guzaarish, Guru, Jodhaa Akbar, HDDCS, Josh, Devdas, Iruvar, Khakee, Raavanan, Jeans - that's a pretty amazing range. Even though Umrao Jaan didn't work, she was superlative there. She cant do every other role, but she picks her roles well and does justice to them.

When a big star like Deepika says she aspires her career is 1% like Aishwarya's, it definitely is SAYING A LOT. Even Sonam has said her dream would be fulfilled if her career reaches even 10% of Ash's. This is a pretty big deal.

Aishwarya is a timeless icon and will continue to grow to become a bigger brand. If there is a female version of Amitabh Bachchan, it's going to be Aishwarya. Wait and watch.

Fair enough--it's all a personal preference. I personally liked Sonam a lot in KS others didn't. Connectability to an actress is indivudual thing I guess. I think she can act and has a pretty legit filmography backing her up. Not many have seen CB or RC, but I thought she was flawless in them. She might be recognized for her beauty more but the fact that she gets offered meaty, female-centric roles is a good indication for me that she's recognized for her acting efforts as well.

Amen! 😳 I loved her in CB so much. If only that movie had garnered more momentum, but I'm positive if it was released today it would have. She had the guts to do a small, Indie film like that when she was in her peak, high demand. For that I will always admire her. Her choices in films never disappoint. And she rarely never gets negative reviews anymore. I'll take it. 😆

Deepika is nowhere close to Aishwarya and her legacy. Aishwarya has been talked about since the 90's to now. People loved her or hated her, but there were very few that were indifferent towards her. As a brand Ash is still powerful even today. Her last movie was Guzaarish (2010) but she is still getting brand endorsements.

Not to take anything from Deepika's career, but I honestly don't think as a brand or as a person she will be anywhere close to Aishwarya. In a few years I do think she will be forgotten. She is just not that memorable, as a person as Ash.

It is not entirely about the acting and how good or bad you are, if that were the case Katrina would not have the career that she has today.

Also, i do like the fact that she makes an attempt at doing female-centric movies. Unlike other actresses who are more interested with the glamour. She is ambitious and thats to be applauded.
