Shahid, Kareena and Alia's payment for 'Udta Punjab' put on hold?

Abhishek Chaubey's upcoming thriller 'Udta Punjab' has been making news for quite some time now. First, there was uncertainty over lead actor Shahid Kapoor's availability, and when his ex-flame, Kareena Kapoor Khan gave her nod to the film, albeit on the condition that they would not share a single frame.

Now we hear a major film studio, which was backing the project, has pulled out of it. With that, Anurag Kashyap-led Phantom Films remains the sole producer. However, the makers are apparently raring to go ahead with the shoot from next month.

An industry insider says, "It will start rolling in Punjab from March 1. The actors have been told that they will get their remuneration only when a film studio comes on board. They have agreed to this condition as they loved the script. As of now, Phantom will be funding the film."

Nevertheless, the makers are on an intense hunt for a production partner, say sources. "After this particular studio backed out of the project, they approached several producers, but without success. However, the search is still on," says a source.

'Udta Punjab', which revolves around the drug mafia and drug abuse in Punjab, stars Alia Bhatt and Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh apart from Shahid and Bebo.

Chaubey remained unavailable for comment.

Shahid Kapoor undergoes intense Training for Udta Punjab

After Haider, Shahid Kapoor busy attending intense acting workshops for his next film Udta Punjab which also stars Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor.

Udta Punjab is one of the most awaited film of the year which will be directed by Abhishek Chaubey. The movie deals with Drug Abuse and if reports are to be believed, the actor has a very challenging role in Udta Punjab. The actor who underwent intense training for his role in Haider is now all set to do the same with Udta Punjab.

Shahid is currently attending workshops for the film. He has extensively been reading the script and in fact also admitted on a social networking site on how this would be one of his toughest roles ever. It is a very demanding role but Shahid has proved his mettle as an actor time and again. Infact his recent performance in Haider won him awards and accolades.

Shahid has very interesting projects in hand for the next two years. While he has finished shooting for Shaandar with Vikas Bahl, Udta Pubjab will go on floors in mid March.

He will also be shooting for Farzi co starring Kriti Sanon and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Maghadeera later this year.

Shahid returns to Punjab for Udta Punjab 8 Years after Jab We Met

8 years after Jab We Met, Shahid Kapoor all set to shoot in Punjab for his next film with Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor titled Udta Punjab which deals with Drug Abuse.

One of Shahid Kapoor's most loved performances was that of Aditya Kashyap in Jab We Met along with his act in Haider. Jab We Met is one of the most loved films till today, and Shahid's performance was loved and applauded by people belonging to all age groups.

Shahid personally feels he learnt a great deal from director Imtiaz Ali while shooting the film and the film holds a special reverence to him. Some important portions of the Jab We Met were shot in Punjab. Reminiscent of Jab We Met Shahid will be going back to Punjab for the shooting of Udta Punjab.

The young actor is looking forward to go back to Punjab for shooting his next film with director Abhishek Chaubey. The films crew is currently in Punjab doing a recce. Shahid has actively been in touch with the production house to check on which cities they are scouting. During Jab We Met they had shot in Chandigarh and Patiala and for Udta Punjab while the search is yet on, large portions of the film will be shot Chandigarh and a few places around. While the two films are very different, it is the place which has made the connect.

Udta Punjab is slated to release in the last quarter of 2015.
