Ranveer Singh said the film was "a simple story based on the 80s formula, about a guy who doesn't find it easy to drop the gun".
With an opportunity to play a wide range of roles in his forthcoming films, Ranveer Singh seems to be in a happy phase.
The young actor croons audibly as we prepare to chat, claiming a few self-help methods such as singing help in "relieving stress".
In his Shaad Ali film Kill Dil, he goes for a retro look, and cannot stop gushing about Bollywood's very own Tarantino-inspired presentation'.
As well as the title Kill Dil, clearly inspired by Quentin Tarantino's cult classic Kill Bill, the film also has moments that shows Tarantino's influence on the filmmaker and cast.
"The quirky, dark edginess defined by Tarantino films has been picked by Shaad. The distinct flavour of the filmmaker will be noticed in Kill Dil," says Ranveer about the upcoming Bollywood-meets-Tarantino experiment.
"It's a simple story based on the 80s formula, about a guy who doesn't find it easy to drop the gun. The quirky treatment, whacky humour and crazy music will connect with the audience," Ranveer says.
"Shaad shoots in a hypersonic speed which adds to the pace of the film. His imperfection gives a distinct flavour," the actor says.
Govinda's presence in Kill Dil as the villain Bhaiyyaji' elevates the film's madness.
"He picks up things from the spot. His dialogues with off-beat punctuation marks are magical," the Band Baaja Baaraat actor says.
His bald look for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next Bajirao Mastani, where he plays Peshwa Baji Rao I', has been creating waves.
But the rising star says shaving his head is the least he can do to be in the character.
"What's more important is to get the thought process of the Maratha warrior right," says Ranveer, who admits that playing the character is like getting off the radar.
"It's like escaping the roles I have played so far," he added.
After working with Bhansali, in the blockbuster Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela, Ranveer has learnt the slow pace in which the filmmaker executes his projects.
"He (Bhansali) is an explorer on the sets," Ranveer says.
Working with Zoya Akhtar in Dil Dhadakne Do has helped him to venture into a new space'.
"Playing an urban contemporary avatar with a certain degree of suave was a striking shift," Ranveer signs off.
