I was just discussing this movie and there were some questioned pointed out in the discussion
1) The concept is 'hum ek baar jeetay, ek baar martay hain, shadi bhi ek baar hoti hay aur pyar bhi'

but SRK married twice. And fell in love twice. So, the question is (a) Was SRK never in love with Rani and Kajol was his only love?

Or, SRK fell in love with Kajol later? Does this also show that he was attracted to her only cause she was now beautiful and his daughter needed a mother?

What do you think was the message?

The only message I got from KKHH is:
Lambi baal = girly = beautiful.
Choti baal = tom boy = friend zoned

I personally never felt he loved either one of them. LOL. I think his "so-called pyaar" was ONLY and ONLY look based. I understand that its important to be physically attracted to a person to be in love or relationship or all that "idhar-udhar ke baatein". But I don't think this "pyaar" is only and solely limited to just looks as shown in KKHH. Jab Tina sundar laagi, usse pyaar ho gaya aur jab Anjali sundar lagi then history repeats. I didn't like Rahul's character. He was so easily seduced. When I saw KKHH as a kid, I was so enraged that Anjali didn't end up with Aman. Anyways, my rant is over now.LOL

That makes two of us. I still hold the same today in fact. Rahul does not come across as a nice guy at all. If anything he is obnoxious and self contradictory. "Maa hum ek bhar jeete hain, ek bhar mar te hain, shaadi ek bhar hoti hain or Pyar bhi."...LOL JK unless the chick is hot then the motto gos flying out of the window.

Leaving the whole "was he, wasn't he always in love with Anjali" aside what grates me is the view that in order to be loved (even by your supposedly best friend) you need to look conventional which equates with sexy sari's, long luscious hair and performing random classical dance numbers in front of children who look so bored out of their mind.

As much as I enjoyed this movie as a kid, I think every eight year old wanted mini Anjali as their bestie, but I cannot help but cringe at the message that comes across.

As to Aman. In my eyes he should have been 'the guy.' Not only did he come across as the better son in law, but clearly if he's been pining for years then he too like Anjali understands what it is like to love someone forever. At the end of the day it was Anjali's choice, and more power to her for making the decision either way but yes, overall I can't help but say, I disagreed with her.

Anjali should have chosen Aman. He loved her for real. Even bore it when she was ignoring him. He had many lusting after him yet pined only for Anjali. Rahul was only after looks.
And later his daughter needing a mother also fuelled his desire.

Enough of analysis over this film! It was just made to glorify SRKajol jodi.
