Sonakshi Sinha's dance number in her upcoming film bears striking resemblance to a Madhuri Dixit song.
She is just a dozen-film old, excluding her special appearances, but Sonakshi Sinha is ready to step into Madame M's shoes in her upcoming film Tevar.
Mirror has learnt that the set designed for a special number, Let's Celebrate, is almost identical to the one in Indra Kumar's Raja on which Madhuri Dixit's famous foot-tapper, Akhian Milaoon ya Akhiyan Churaoon, was filmed.
Revealed a source close to the unit, "Everybody present on the set pointed out the similarities, in particular Sanjay who had featured in the earlier song opposite Madhuri." Sanjay, who is the producer of Tevar, however insisted that the likeness was incidental. "But yes, when I walked in, I was transported back in time," he admitted.
He recalled how he would land up on the set of Raja at 6 am to rehearse for two hours with Saroj Khan's assistant Ahmed Khan before he dared to match steps with Madhuri. "I was really nervous because there were no background dancers. I knew that Madhuri and I will be the focus of the song," he pointed out.
Interestingly, the set for Raja was erected just a few miles away from the one for Tevar, at Filmistan Studios. The track has been choreographed by Remo D'Souza and Imran Khan of Amplifier fame has composed and sung it.
Sanjay who was the leading man of the 1995 romantic drama has now turned producer and the hero of this film is his nephew, Arjun Kapoor. "We're both very hard-working actors," he laughs.
Ask Sanjay how Sonakshi rates in comparison to Madhuri and pat comes the reply, "Sonakshi is the best dancer amongst the younger lot but Madhuri is incomparable!"
