Many tried copying angry/action roles of older stars. Only Sunny was most convincing. He is not as good as his father was. But good enough. And if he is average then so are Khans with each having their own limitations.

His best IMO is Arjun. Real angst of youth. Understated performance. Not like Ghayal.

And nobody in history of cinema suits the army officer the way Sunny did in Border. He made it look like a battle than mere fancy dress in army uniform.

Sunny did resign to his comfort zone.

Sunny has done everything and has succeeded in every genre too.

1) Romance- Betaab, Dillagi, Sohni Mahiwal.

2) Action- Border, Ghatak, Ziddi

3) Social Dramas- Arjun, Damini, Ghayal, Apne

4) Comedy- Chalbaaz, YPD

The 90's everybody was doing the same thing over and over. You had the action stars Sunny, Akshay, Sunil, Ajay, Sunjay and you had the romantic stars Anil, SRK, Aamir and then Salman & Govinda. There was no such thing as experimenting. 😆
