That was a nice movie.
Bebo still gets credit for her portrayal as Geet and I feel that's only right. Shahid & her had superb chemistry even after they broke up.

Thank God I'm not alone 😆 I mean, Kareena and Shahid were good and all.. The movie was good too.. But I didn't like it as much as the rest of the world apparently did 😆

I saw the movie and loved it so much...the simplicity of the movie, the pairing, the fun and entertaining...everything was ekdum kadak... I can actually compare its aura to that of DDLJ... something very simple yet very unique in many years😳

It's music, Shahid and Kareenas chemistry, little but of humour.. It was a good and entertaining watch... 😊

It was a feel good, sweet movie.

I think with the hero being so understated and quiet and so nice, it reinforced the viewer's belief in the decency of nice guys.
(No matter if it is really true or not) 😕.

Shaheed executed that role really well...it called for him to be shy and quiet, with some hangups, and he handled it well.

There were missed cues and lost moments, too, of course...the angst over his parents, his mother in particular, was never explored fully...but then it was tied up in a simple moment of understanding for him...again underscoring the depths to which the thinking prowess of the lead went.
(The hang-ups could have had one more scene, I guess.)
He was supposed to be a guy who was emotional but had learned to channel that emotion into positive avenues; i.e., see the world optimistically.

He was far removed from the hero of Band Baaja Baraat, for example, well-dressed, suave, well-mannered, decent, clean in speech and habits, and I suppose many urbanites identified with that or wanted to be like that or fell in love with that persona.
(The word upper-middle class comes to mind, though, of course, he was quite wealthy.)
It was not an over-the-top Rajshri Productions-style movie. At no time was the wealth shoved down the viewer's throats removing all sense of connection with the characters.
(Again, not that all upper-middle class guys possess all or any of the above named qualities. 😕)

I guess, I am looking for the word, 'polish'.
As opposed to the BBB hero, for example, he came across as very polished (quiet and shy, sure, but still educated and well-spoken), and most girls dig that.

And the heroine...well...she definitely was the teacher in the first half, and then the tables were turned and he became the teacher.
Life lessons learned, indeed.

She was good, a little irritating and too loud in the beginning, and then the blow, depression, and transformation. Very realistic, and relatable.
I think Kareena did a good job, especially in the second half.

She modeled the girls today, young, free from parental influence in a college in another city, a boyfriend, hopes of a wedded life with that boyfriend, and if it comes as an elopement, well...how exciting, what stories to tell later.

She was down-to-earth, except for her romantic dreams, dressed like any other average girl would, had the confidence of a girl of her character, and espoused living life to the fullest.
Who wouldn't dig that?

Her family issues were presented well, though I got a bit lost among all the family members, and didn't realize till the end that the most vociferous was not her father but an uncle.
The whole sikh joint-family seemed a little too happy and jolly, but there was a pun or two involved as they poked fun at themselves. eg. "We are punjabi, we are always ready for a party!"

Kareena was very touching in the second half with the shattered dreams and broken heart, and then the sudden steel in her spine coming back, courtsey of a timely reminder by Shaheed.
Go Girl Power!
Females connected with that, too.
It was an, 'In your face!', moment to all their past broken-hearts and no-good boyfriends.

The story was penned with the character transformation in mind.
How they come about to this change in their personalities, in a word, maturing, and getting what love is all about: respect and understanding for your partner, I think formed the basis of the movie.
There was that innocence factor to it.
No real villains, nothing horrible happening to her when she as all alone, etc.

Ultimately, it felt real.
After all, most of us do not go through life in a village terrorized by 'Gubbur Singhs'...but spineless boyfriends and broken-hearts, lack of gumptions and depression...sigh!

Even 3 Idiots did not feel as real. The theme, sure, but not every scenario.
Jub We Met delivered on the realistic and lovable.

It's not a perfect film..I like it because of Kareena and Shahid's chemistry and for their performances. Songs were good too. And honestly..there hasn't been a good lover story made after JWM.
I don't really like Veer Zaara as I don't think the love story between the leads was believable. Who waits for someone for that long. Please!

Kal Ho NA Ho IMO was much better than Veer Zaara in terms of the love story being believable.

However JWM over KHNH any day.
