Ek Villain - My Review
Siddharth as Guru was absolutely fab! I hated him at times and loved him most of the other times. Riteish as Rakesh was wicked! He wasn't just a villain. He was a human with a wicked streak. And I hated him for it, but I also felt for him. A special mention for Riteish here. Last week he appeared in a comedy movie which is his comfort zone and this week in a villainous role (his first ever). And I must say he rocked in both roles! Shraddha as Aisha was a bit over the top. She was just too happy and too funny all the time. Also I didn't really understand what ailment she had. It got a bit annoying. Aamna Sharif as Sulochana was okay. She didn't have much of a role except to hit Riteish and get angry at people. KRK was just KRK. There was no need for his role or for him in that role. Prachi Desai in the song "Awari" lacked energy. She seemed to be trying to do a Priyanka from Ram Chahe Leela, but fell flat. The actor playing that inspector (I'm sorry I don't know his name) was good. I hated him, which means he did his role very well!
The story was really good! The way Guru transforms from this kill machine to a man in love and how he transforms his life for her was very well portrayed. Rakesh's life and his reasons for becoming a psychotic killer were portrayed well and gave us the feeling of loving him, but also hating him.
The action sequences were just stellar! There was a sequence where Guru enters the boat of his former boss and I remember watching a video that it was a one-shot sequence and really you see that. The way the camera is following Guru it's quite obviously a one-shot sequence and it was very well done! The action sequences between Riteish and Siddharth were the best treat for me.
I loved the way the past and present were mixed was lovely. Each scene had a meaning, each dialogue was needed, and the songs were very properly placed and wrapped into the story.
I had eagerly awaited this movie because I loved its trailer and its songs and I'm happy to see that it didn't disappoint. It wasn't one of those movies where the best scenes were just in the trailer.
Though I must say I was a bit disappointed there was no new twist in the climax. I had hoped for some small twist of some sort, but really the story was revealed in the beginning half an hour or so and then the rest of the movie built on it. Though that was done very well I must say because I was hooked for the entire movie.
A must watch! And especially in the theatre. I can tell you that you won't be disappointed. You will be if you watch on the net or TV. I tried watching on the net, but it just didn't have the same effect as it did when I went to the theatre. And the best parts are Riteish and Siddharth!
Rating: 4/5

KRK did well. He was superb in his mysogynistic role. 😆 He even called Ritesh 2 Rs man in the film. It was one of the best scenes. 😆 I loved KRK. 😆

The movie was great. But too many expectations can spoil it. I expected a lot when the promos, etc came out, but the hype died down for me as the release date came closer, lol. Thus, could enjoy it more.
I liked a lot about it, the love story was beautiful. Shraddha/Sid make it even more worth watching. They had very good chemistry. But I won't go and say that it actually lives up to the hype. So, I'd suggest just going with the flow and kinda to tone down the expectations. The 'thriller' part of it, I didn't enjoy much. It seemed rather, just THERE. Not something that's exceptional. The love story left more impact, IMO.Ritesh & Sid were just fab! Especially Sid! I thought Ritesh might overshine him, but he actually didn't. Or at least not for me. They both portrayed their characters brilliantly! And yea, it's not a movie I'll watch again anytime soon, but won't put it in the one time watch thing, either. It's somewhere in the middle. And Shraddha has improved as well; I loved the way she portrayed emotional scenes.
