Who gives a damn about critics? 😆

That I agree with...she looked good! 😉

If the BO collections are good...Critics can go for a hike 😆

I just read pilot of 'I Saw the Devil' and it is nothing like Ek Villian. Yes it cannot be argued that main idea or basic outline of story is inspired BUT the way people are saying 'Its copy paste', 'each frame is inspired' is so wrong. Its not even remake

And here comes Masand's review..

'Ek Villain' review: Moderately fulfilling, the film's real villain is a lousy script

Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor and Ritesh Deshmukh

Director: Mohit Suri

Five minutes into Mohit Suri's 'Ek Villain', and a major character is killed off. Great way to get your attention. The rest of the film is divided between flashbacks of a charming love story, and a somewhat unconvincing revenge mission.

Five minutes into Mohit Suri's 'Ek Villain', and a major character is killed off. Great way to get your attention.

Guru (Sidharth Malhotra) is a hot-headed, cold-blooded assassin working on the orders of a Goa don. He softens under the influence of Aisha (Shraddha Kapoor), a cheery chatterbox and selfless do-gooder, who gets under his skin despite himself. Meanwhile, Ritesh Deshmukh is Rakesh Mahadkar, a mousy lower-middle class MTNL employee, who vents his frustration over his nagging wife at the unfortunate women who make the mistake of locking horns with him. These two narratives intertwine predictably, setting off the payback plan.

Suri, a competent director, who has a knack for ripping off foreign films and 'Indianizing' them by adding a romantic subplot and a superhit soundtrack, employs the same formula here. The victim on this occasion is the Korean revenge saga, 'I Saw The Devil'. Suri and his writers tone down the violence, amp up the melodrama, throw in a love story, and give the psychotic serial killer a justification for his misogyny. It's all very Hindi filmi, complete with corny lines that'll make you roll your eyes in disbelief.

To give credit where it's due, Suri makes the most of this flawed script, delivering a consistently watchable film even if it isn't always satisfying. The plot is plagued with logic issues, and there's virtually no suspense in the cat-and-mouse chase between villain and avenger. Yet each time the thriller element fails, it's the romantic track that returns to resuscitate the film.

Shraddha Kapoor has a luminous presence, and it's hard to take your eyes off her when she's on screen...although you may want to shut your ears from listening to her constant chappad-chappad. She shares a warm chemistry with Sidharth Malhotra, who does very well as the silently simmering type and gets a few nice moments to show off his brooding intensity. It's Ritesh Deshmukh, though, who springs a surprise, delivering a compelling performance, both as the browbeaten everyman, and in his volte face as the stonehearted killer.

It's a shame then that despite the uniformly impressive performances, and Suri's nifty directing skills, the film is only moderately fulfilling. I'm going with two-and-a-half out of five for 'Ek Villain'. If you're still wondering, the real villain here is the lousy script.

Rating: 2.5 / 5

So now film will be big success, now my review won't effect anything 😆

SPOILERS ALERT: Don't read my review, there will be lot.

My Review:

Wanted to write it in morning, but biased for RD, i thot to shift it to evening... Hugely disappointed from the film, specially from Mohit Suri, he has done very good work in past despite copying or inspiring from foreign films, but this time just to prove he can score big without bhatts, he has gone extreme in getting inspired from not only foreign films but tv serials also especially Dexter.

Mohit named the film Ek Villain, promoted the film having no heroes, hinted it to be bloody devilish kind, but what was it?? Ghantaa... Ek Villain mein 15 minute ke villain word se milte julte scenes hai, baaki saari film is striving on SYMPATHY for Hero / Heroine. Dexter's theme is copied, Dexter's character is given to RD which he did honestly believing as Mohit is giving him something rare, but very very weak character, a remix of all (from film ISTD / Dexter).

Awarapan + Murder 2 + I See the Devil + Dexter = Ek Villain but in Experimented twisted by our Indian Writers / Filmmaker who are shamelessly claiming it to be their work. Giving interviews as they haven't seen ISTD or any inspiration from other sources.

Starting 15 minutes is thrill, u get a adrenaline as wow what a movie, den it slide down heavily on sympathy factor... developing sympathy for heroine, hero's revenge, his change... The main theme of movie get lost easily...

When U promote ur movie on 1 word, keep it at least for some time in movie... Ritesh is shown in different way for ppl who haven't seen Dexter, but who have seen it... It's Minus intelligence from Dex's character... Mohit could have simply inspired and give more depth to this character, more evil, more voilence which he gives in Murder 2 for prashant.

Now when Bhatt remakes, they grip the film, here Mohit is lost in telling a story which in the end u can't understand ke film hai kis pe bhai? To change bad to good, or good to bad or bad vs bad? Hai Kya??

I have seen ppl praising Milap Zaveri n other writers of EK Villain, STORY, seeing this i feel ashamed as how we Indians will copy other's work n CLAIM it ours 👎🏼

Box Office pe dhoom machegi for this film as hype is strong... but in actual, this isn't what makers have promoted so far...
