Well , Elixir, did gave the argument for this. But still , the fact that Salman himself takes pain and comments on kissing scenes and love-making scenes onscreen and kind of berates them, inspite of the fact that being an actor he should know the difference between individual and the character. If he can get away doing something this awkward in the name of character or craft than he has no right in pointing fingers at others. If he ceases to distinguish the difference himself then why expect the audience to do the same for his movie or character.
I have a problem when he picks the moral compass and decides on what is vulgar or not, based solely on his perceptions.

Oh absolutely, that I'm not going to argue with, if Salman thinks it's bad kissing/lovemaking on screen then he obviously isn't committed as actor. But just because Salman can't distinguish between the two, doesn't mean we should also be doing the same.

I'm not a big fan on defending Salman, but some of the comments on this thread are just ridiculous so I had to jump in 😎

Salman never ever points fingers at those actors who does Kissing Sceens or even intimate scenes. Aamir khan has a mile long smooch scene in RH, have u ever heard him taking his name for it?

It's his viewpoint as there is no need of kiss in a script... his own viewpoint, not pointing fingers.

How can you not distinguish between a character and the actor who plays it? what are they 5 year olds?

That was my answer for you asking about rapes/murders on screen. Never is it shown on screen with the intention of portraying it as a good deed and is mostly done by negative characters. And its not audiences stupidity but human nature to dislike things which are unethical or inhumane acts. And actors who continually do such roles do affect the way we see them. In this forum itself ,Shraddha is found amazing looking cos how can she look like that with her father being Shakti Kapoor. Ignoring the roles he has done, how is Shakti Kapoor even bad looking? He looks like average Indian.

While that was about rape/murders on screen, Dance steps in general are meant to be imitated by general public. The die hard fans of these actors imitate the way the star talks, walks, dances. For eg, Akshat from JDJ7 is a mini Salman and might very well imitate this step in his future act on the dance floor.

Same way some family audience won't mind this step as awkward as they will for a kiss. How about that perspective?... also which shows how much family audience loved all his past blockbusters which were on repeat viewing which helped those film score big numbers at BO,

So a man lifting a woman's dress with mouth is acceptable but a kiss is not?

SRK's biggest role in Darr was 2 harass juhi chawla, which made him overnight superstar. He is a Hero playing negative role. His other movie Anjaam, where he even hit Madhuri in stomach, same played by him only... so it is not mandatory for villain playing bad role artist to always play those roles... even Hero does play it.

In a song, there are so many steps... signature step is repeated more than once, this step is not repeated, so it is one of the steps... now the impact on fans... Srk, Akki, ranbir also doesn't have less fans who are also doing the same kind of steps, even more vulgar 2 some, with even more vulgar lyrics... so why just corner Salman for it?

But what makes you think this "step" will be shown as a good thing? we haven't seen the movie but from the trailer, Jackie's character is questioned on what she sees in Devil(Salman's character)...If Salman starts doing this step on promotion and tries to make it cool then you have a point until then I don't see the problem.

As for your last sentence, that's the parent's responsibility, we should teach our kids to have better role models in fact we should be their role model not some actor.

When Shahrukh Khan started doing the anti-hero roles like in Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam...there was a huge debate on this...that should the heroes who are idols of so many especially the impressionable minds ...be doing these anti-heroes or negative kinds of roles...and what effect it will have on the younger audience...because in our BW movies...Heroes are supposed to do the right thing...but now the trends have changed...anti-heros have become popular and i think the audience is not shocked so much when they see a superstar in a negative role...😆

I don't know if salman kissed in the movie or not...but I won't call him a hypocrite based on some interview he did years ago...People change according to times...their priorities change...we all think I would never do this and then end up doing it some years later...and nothing wrong about it...Its not like Salman said I won't kiss anyone on screen and then went and kissed the next day😆
