Good to see that there are many people who feel she is a mediocre actress... Seeing the recent spate of posts on Ash, I was beginning to wonder if I am the only person who thinks she is strictly mediocre with a few good performances to her credit... I did not like her acting in most of the mainstream movies... There is something very artificial and OTT about most of her portrayals... To me it felt like she was always conscious of the camera and trying to make sure she was looking good rather than feeling the moment and the character and living it... Devdas was a ham fest... even HDDCS there were sooo many cringeworthy moments for me... and there are many Ash movies were I have felt like I would die of second hand embarrassment... But I liked her in Taal (in parts), Raincoat, Jodha Akbar and to a lesser extent in Provoked... when I watched Provoked I couldn't help but think how a more accomplished actress could have brought it out better... and Bride and Prejudice and her other international outings were cringe worthy for me... Have watched PInk Panther, Mistress of spices and B&P... and a little bit of the Legion... Loved her in Kajrare, Nimbooda and Taal se Taal Mila... but not so much in any of the dances in Devdas... For me Madhuri was the only saving grace in that hamfest of a movie... and all the love that I had for SLB beause of Khamoshi went down the drain thanks to that movie... And although I am surprised to see many people rating her as a complete package and as one of the best actresses etc... it is interesting to read the different POVs... especially since no one is bashing...

Loved her performance in Action Replay, Kuch Na Kaho and Umrao Jaan. She was perfect. Even in Dhoom 2 she was amazing 😳

In roles at require her to give intense looks and not say too many dialogues, she's good...(ja, guru, all her tamil flicks where her dialogues are said by an artiste...)

Hddcs was an exception...I shall give that to her...

In roles where she's supposed to be funny, flamboyant, ott, cute, hilarious, chatter box types... (robot, action replay, dhoom 2, bride and prejudice) I just cringe to no end...

But like I said, she's too self conscious to do well in comedy or light hearted/everyday chulbuli girl kinda roles...she just dosent fit those because she comes across as extremely artificial...

I think her dialogue delivery is one of her weakest points...
