A transformed and more composed Shraddha Kapoor talks about the two Adityas in her life among other things.
It isn't long back that Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure's daughter would be seen gulping down paani puris at local Juhu eateries. Today Shraddha Kapoor can hardly go out without getting mobbed. That's the price of fame one has to pay. But, the young actress isn't complaining.
After a dismal debut in Teen Patti followed by Luv Ka The End, another film that proved to be a damp squib in the box office, it was a brave decision to walk out of a three-film-deal with Aditya Chopra. When the 25-year-old left Aurangzeb for Aashiqui 2, many called it a hasty call. But her gamble paid off and how!
"The decision to do Aashiqui 2 played a big role. I was going through a very tough phase. But, the early failures worked in my favour and kept me grounded in reality. Not many supported my decision but it was a risk I took," says the sassy lass, who is still riding high on the success of the Mahesh Bhatt film.
Aashiqui 2 has changed her life in more ways than one and today she is more equipped to tackle the situations intrinsic to the industry. Shraddha is calm, prudent and diplomatic.
A few days back, she broke the ice with Aditya Chopra. "I called up Aditya sir and everything is fine between us. He is my mentor and it was nice chatting up with him after so long. He has loved the promo of my next film, Ekta Kapoor's Ek Villain and he appreciated my singing. I am hoping to land a role in one of his films soon," quips the actress who has impressed many with her singing talent in Galiyaan--the Ek Villain chartbuster.
And taking a leaf out of the media journals of her contemporaries, she vehemently refutes claims of being in a relationship. She and her Aashiqui 2 co-star, Aditya Roy Kapur, have been thick as thieves since they started shooting the second schedule of their film. And the couple has been spotted far too often to brush off the reports as mere rumours. But ask her about it and she replies like a pro "I am not dating Aditya Roy Kapur. We are just good friends. And I am fond of Vidya Balan (Aditya Roy Kapur's bhabhi). She is a warm person."
But didn't she follow Aditya Roy Kapur to the US during a recent award function held in Tampa?
Pat comes another denial, "No. I had gone only to meet my friends. I didn't even meet him there."
What about her other linkup, the one with her Ek Villain co-star Sidharth Malhotra? Another platonic relationship? "I am very fond of him. We began on a very reserved note though," the actress is curt.
She is all praise for her Ek Villain director Mohit Suri with whom she was supposed to work in a film even before Aashiqui 2. "That project was also for Vishesh Films but somehow didn't materialise. I had insisted that he cast me in Ek Villain. He had brushed it off then. But suddenly he called to say that he wants me in the film!" says Shraddha.
One can sense that the actress is more composed today and like her contemporaries she has learnt to not sieve through dirt. Not so long ago, Kamaal R Khan (KRK) said on Twitter that he wants to kiss her-a comment that made her brother Siddhanth so furious that he called up KRK and lambasted him. But Shraddha is only amused and laughs of the whole incident. "I found it quite entertaining. I am sure KRK wants to kiss many other actresses too!"
