Mumbai: Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is not perturbed over the flak the trailer of his upcoming film "Mohenjo Daro" has recieved online and says one needs to be open to criticism.
Fans have panned the trailer questioning the VFX technology used to depict the Indus Valley civilisation. The 52-year-old director wants people to be patient and
form opinion after watching the film that stars Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles.
When asked how is he dealing with the criticism over the trailer, Gowariker said, "We are open to that. When Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) was in a good career phase, a film named 'Alaap' came and the poster had his face that seemed poetic. I did not go for it as I was enjoying watching him in 'Don',
'Trishul'."
He further added, "We have our own image or response to a trailer. In a trailer, you try to depict a story. There are certain elements that shock you but you have to be patient and form your opinion after seeing the film. I think 'Alaap' was a superb film and Amitji was great."
The film is set in 2016 BC in the ancient city of Mohenjo-daro. The film, produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Sunita Gowariker, releases on August 12.

In "Mohenjo Daro", Ashutosh Gowariker has given a Bollywood break to actress Pooja Hegde, who had started her career with south Indian films.Director Ashutosh Gowariker, who is awaiting the release of his next release "Mohenjo Daro", says he enjoys the process of finding actors and more so by browsing through the various regional language TV channels.
"Right up to my recent film, I would go on the various channels on television, to look at the regional programming that is existing and you are able to see so many actors who, for some reason or the other, have not been able to make it to Mumbai," Gowariker said.
"Probably financially they have not been able to come or some feel that there is no point in going to Mumbai. And most of the times I have got my talent from there," he said at the launch of a digital portal Talent Next here.
While he says it is a very time-consuming process, the actors are always "very pleasantly surprised" to know that they were contacted in this manner.
"DD Oriya, DD Srinagar, DD Bangla... I have been going to all these channels and sourcing the actors and that can only be done when you have a kind of scripting level clear thoughts," added the filmmaker, who has worked with the likes of superstars Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
In "Mohenjo Daro", he has given a Bollywood break to actress Pooja Hegde, who had started her career with south Indian films. Earlier, he launched Gracy Singh and Gayatri Joshi in films.
"Mohenjo Daro" is releasing on August 12.
Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan has two films lined up for release - Ashutosh Gowarikar's Mohenjo Daro and Sanjay Gupta's Kaabil. Both films will be facing a box office clash - Mohenjo Daro will be up against Akshay Kumar's Rustom and Kaabil is scheduled to take on Shah Rukh Khan's Raees.
Talking about the clash for the first time, Hrithik said he doesn't want to involve himself and instead let Ashutosh Gowarikar speak.
"Producer saab (pointing at Ashutosh), I'm an actor (smiles)" Hrithik said, before a journalist told him that Akshay lives in Hrithik's building and he's one of the producers of Rustom. To which, Hrithik said "Then straight to Akshay.. Ashutosh and Akshay please discuss and sort it out.."
Ashutosh said "The thought does come to mind... that if two films come on the same day and clash, box office will be divided.. all that (talk) happens. But ultimately, you have to do what is in your interest.. Sholay and Jai Santoshi Maa released on the same day, both were super hits. In fact, if you compare, Jai Santoshi Maa is a bigger hit than Sholay, because the cost to recover ratio (return on investment) is very high. Lagaan and Gadar (also clashed), one of them was my past film.. "
"So when I think of all that, I think Mohenjo Daro should work and so should Rustom, both films should be super duper hits" Ashutosh said.
Meanwhile, Hrithik did mention that he spoke to Shah Rukh Khan about Kaabil's clash with Raees.
"Yes, we spoke and said we are actors and we should leave it to the producers to decide" Hrithik said.
Mohenjo Daro releases in theatres on August 12.
