Hrithik Roshan: Not approached for 'Comedy Nights Bachao'

Actor Hrithik Roshan is on a promotion spree as his next film "Mohenjo Daro" is set to hit the screens later this month. But contrary to rumours, he said "Comedy Nights Bachao" was never on the list for promoting the epic adventure-romance film.

According to reports, Hrithik was asked to promote his film on "Comedy Nights Bachao", but the actor declined the offer.

"That's a rumour. 'Comedy Nights Bachao' was never on the list. I was not approached for it. There was a need to do two shows and they were both decided by the PR team, and not by Pooja (Hegde) or me. We were just taken (to the shows' sets)," Hrithik, who was here to promote the Ashutosh Gowariker directorial, told IANS. The co-stars did make an appearance on "The Kapil Sharma Show".

How was it shooting with popular comedian Kapil Sharma?
"He is amazing. We had a great time. That show is dedicated to... after Pooja to Ashutosh because you will see a different side of him that no one has ever seen. He was behaving like a girl and all," he said.

Pooja, who is making her Bollywood acting debut with the film, shared that she was "shocked" to see that side of Gowariker.

"You have seen him as a very serious man and now you will see his other side," she said. The duo also had a good time on filmmaker-choreographer Remo D'souza's dance show "Dance +".

On Mohenjo Daro Sets, Hrithik Roshan 'Fed Chalk' to Pooja Hegde

Actress Pooja Hegde is all set to make her debut in Bollywood with Hrithik Roshan in Mohenjo Daro, and the actress said that she was nervous while sharing screen space with Hrithik.

Did she get the jitters?

"Of course. He (Hrithik) is a really good actor. The plus point of working with him is that you are so involved in a scene that acting for me became easier. Since it's my debut film, I was a bit worried. But because of his level of intensity in a particular scene, I was just reacting after a point rather than acting. It's good to work with someone like that," Pooja told IANS.

So, who broke the ice?

Hrithik answered this one.

"I broke the ice with a chalk. I fed her some chalk. She was looking for diet food and I offered her a protein bar but it was actually a chalk that I had found on the set. She ate it up and later, I told her that it was actually chalk," he said.

Pooja shared that she and Hrithik had met during a test shoot as well.

"I think the ice broke when he (Hrithik) thought that I was from south India," said the actress, who has featured in southern films likeMukunda and Mugamoodi.

Reminiscing about that day, Hrithik said: "I even asked her, 'When are you going back?' She said, 'I am going back at 6 pm' Then I asked, 'What time is your flight?' She asked 'What flight? I live in Bandra.' I thought she lived in south India."

Mohenjo Daro, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, will release on August 12.

Hrithik Roshan says he has faith in Ashutosh Gowariker's vision

Hrithik Roshan loves to call Ashutosh Gowariker a moving textbook for his amazing grip over the subject he is handling in any movie. Having already worked with him in 'Jodha Akbar', Hrithik feels that he has faith in his director and is always willing to do his bidding. By his own admission, history as a subject never interested Hrithik and while doing this movie, whenever there was any confusion on the role, he would go to Ashutosh and seek his opinion.

The actor said that he was solely focused on 'Mohenjo Daro', and made sure that he looks the part in every way given the fact that Ashutosh is a perfectionist and has a penchant for detail.After having lent gravitas and authenticity in two historical movies, Hrithik feels that history has its own importance and that we can never wish it away from our lives. According to the actor, history can teach us about the powerful men and their Machiavellian ways to survive challenges and enmities.

Akshay Kumar's Rustom to get smaller release than Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro

Akshay Kumar's Rustom or Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro: Which one will audience and box office choose this Independence Day, with both their release date being August 12? While one is a magnificent period drama set in the Indus Valley Civilisation, the other is a taut thriller based on an infamous case involving a Navy officer.

While Rustom stars Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta besides Akshay; Mohenjo Daro is the Bollywood debut of Pooja Hegde. However, Akshay's film is a much smaller film than Hrithik's. The difference in their cost is shocking. According to a Midday report, Rustom has been made at the cost of about Rs 50 crore while Mohenjo Daro's budget is almost double at approximately Rs 100 crore.

Akshay has perfected the art of starring in films which are low on budget but high on story - Airlift, and Baby being a few examples. Hrithik is making a comeback of sorts after Bang Bang released two years ago.

The release that both films are getting reflects their budget. Backed by Disney, Mohenjo Daro is releasing on about 2300-2500 screen. In comparison, Rustom gets 2000 screens. This is the similar kind of divide which was seen when Shah Rukh Khan's Dilwale clashed with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone's Bajirao Mastani in 2015. Dilwale got a higher number of screens but was panned by critics and people alike. Its box office collections bore the brunt as people just chose to watch Bajirao Mastani.
Shah Rukh later decided to pull out of Sultan vs Raees clash, leaving the slot open for Salman Khan in 2016. He later said that box office clashes should be avoided till India has enough screens to accommodate two big films.
