Buzz is that Shahrukh has turned down a plum offer by Abbas-Mastan to play a negative role in 'Race 3'. The director duo reportedly approached King Khan with the offer, and even gave him a brief narration. They even assured him that his role would be a meaty one and that he would be the protagonist as Aamir Khan was in Dhoom 3.
But looks like Abbas-Mastan's persuasion came to naught as Shahrukh Khan didn't give his nod. We hear the superstar wasn't convinced about his role in the film.
So is he chary of turning a villain on screen? May be not, if you consider how good an acting form he struck while playing the bad guy in films like Baazigar, Darr and Anjaam in the early years of his career. And let's not forget that both Don and Don 2 had him playing an anti-hero.
A source is quoted as saying by DNA that SRK turned down Abbas-Mastan's offer because "he didn't feel the audience would accept him in such a dark role for now."
Abbas Mastan's Race franchise is a hit at the box office. The film is a multistarrer with Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor being the regulars.
Shahrukh Khan is presently working in Farah Khan's Happy New Year. He's also signed in for director Rahul Dholakia's Raees. He's also set to do a film with Aditya Chopra.
