The unusual marriage took place in Jalampur village in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh.
According to a report in Bhaskar, Nand Kumar Devangan took the step after the elderly in his village warned him that if he didn't marry someone in the traditional Hindu way, he will be haunted by ghosts.
He had married all his three wives by making them wear bangles and not in the traditional Hindu way.
40 years ago he got married to Basana. 20 years later, he married Bai after Basana died. Later, even Bai died due to illness. He then married Kumari.
All the three women were married before they tied the knot with Devangan.
According to an age-old tradition prevalent in the region, if a girl is already married, the groom need not take feras with her, he can just make her wear bangles and it is considered that the couple are married.
In all the three marriages, Devangan didn't undergo a haldi ceremony, neither did he take feras. He evangan only made the girls wear bangles and it was deemed that he was married.
However, on the advice of the elderly people of the communty, he decided to get married to a Katari.
What's even more fascinating is Devangan named the Katari after Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif because their sun signs match and because is a huge fan of hers.
A proper marriage procession was taken out with band and music. Devangan's third wife and two kids were also present to witness him get married for the fourth time.
