Why Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra Got Married Secretly

The Chopras and their new family member Rani Mukherji are expected to be back in Mumbai only after another 8-10 days. Meanwhile, some details have emerged about their super-secret wedding.

It is being speculated in some quarters that the decision may have been taken at the spur of the moment since Rani's father Ram Mukherji has not been keeping well. Rani's cousin uncle Subbir Mukherji has been quoted in the media as saying, "We have been waiting for it. Ram's health is not well, which is why it (the wedding) was done now."

The wedding was attended by Karan Johar, Rani's best buddy Vaibhavi Merchant, brother Raja and his wife Jyoti and Aditya's brother Uday Chopra. Rumours of SRK being present for a short time are rife too! Rani's cousin Ayan Mukherji and uncle Deb Mukherji were conspicuous by their absence.

However, the other side of the story shows that this was indeed a planned event. Pamela Chopra, who looked into the nitty-gritty of the wedding, left for Italy on April 10. Rani and Adi left on Friday. Apparently, when Rani's friends asked her what she was getting ready for, she simply said that she was going for a holiday.

The buzz is that Rani has been shopping for her trousseau for the past several weeks and picked up around 12-13 designer outfits from a Juhu boutique outside her mother's home in Janki Kutir. Uday was also keen that his ladylove Nargis Fakhri be present at the wedding. But the actress was shooting for her international film, Spy, at Budapest and couldn't make it.
