Are Bollywood movies going down the drain? I was watching hahk and DDLJ two days back. While I was watching them, I was hooked up and I was really excited although I watched those movies for 30th time. And yesterday I watched hasee toh pasee. But I was not interested even for half of the time. Although pari and sid did great job but the movie had nothing special about it.
I feel most of the time Bollywood movies have no quality. KJO Adi Sooraj give us some great movies in 90s but now KJO and adi have forgotten what classic really are and how they should be made? All movies KJO made post 2004 were not even half as good as KKHH, kal ho na ho or k3. Mohabatein and rab ne bana di Jodi were not as good as DDLJ. Even sooraj prem ki deewani hoon and vivah were nothing like mpk hahk hssh

And nowadays movies are even worst. Nowadays directors promotes vulgarity in the name of romance.

Now directions make it like only kissing scenes is romance. I mean there are hardly any movies you can watch with your family. I can only watch salman and to some extent Srk movies with my family.

I mean from what it seems, I think Bollywood is trying to copy Hollywood but they need to know that Bollywood and Hollywood works differently .

Oh my god! I totally agree. I look back at movies from 90s and I think man most of the popular movies are so terrible! I think we have improved a lot. I think the audience has changed. Today's audience questions a lot. HAHK is one of my all time favorites but I would hate that movie if it was made today. I would question it.

Yes there were some bad movies in 90s too but there were also many good movies. I can name many. Today movies especially love stories have nothing special about them. Most of the promote vulgarity in the name of romance. I was watching 2 states promo and I was like I couldn't watch this movie with my family.

In this case..yes old is gold. I agree with you Sara. I was actually having this discussion with my mom just recently. We were trying to find a movie to watch together..like new movies from 2012-13..and every movie we tried to watch just bores us out of our minds. The biggest thing that is missing from Bollywood is good love stories..the way the characters fall for each other is just not believable in today's love stories. Films like DDLJ, Devdas, HDDCS, Raja Hindustani, and even JWM...these kind of great films with believable love stories is misimg today.
And it's not just love stories..films today are just not as good as they use to be..I liked 90s films way better than the kind of crap made these days.

Yes they are films like Queen or English Vinglish..films that are well made..but not enough of it is made today.

Also lack of comedy films..we get stuck with Housefull and Golmaal 3 type of films with stupid jokes..back in the day we had films like Hera Pheri series and AAA.

It's all relative! I still remember sneering at my dad brooding at the banal cost of taking 3 kids to a wedding with no food provided to top that..we went to HAHK!😆 Now I see that movie & feel his pain but then I adored that movie. I think a lot of movies made now are relevant to the present & bwd definitely is evolving. Ofcourse there is bad mixed with the good ones.

The audience is to blame. Apparently our taste has deteriorated. Because masala action movies sell, filmmakers continue to make them.

A much needed reply thanks, yes I agree with each and every word you said. There is hardly any good love story and comedy movies nowadays. Yes I appreciate movies like English vinglish and queen but overall the Bollywood industry doesn't have good movies.

Like you said nowadays we don't have classics like hahk hssh HDDCS mpk KKHH DDLJ AAA ect. I was watching YJHD few days back. Honestly when I watched it first time, I loved it but after that I was bored, I was not even interested. But whenever I watch DDLJ hahk or any of 90s love stories, I never get bore, those movies were magical.

The last good movie of Srk was my name is khan and that was also only because of Srk kajol Jodi
The last good movie of salman I remember was dabbang and ETT but in between we had horrible movies like ready and jai ho
The last amazing movie of aamir was 3 idiots. I like taalash too but 3 idiots was amazing. Aamir movies are the best among all BW actors. That I have to give him credit for.

But still these movies were nothing great like 90s classics, and honestly I would rather like to see all three khans in love stories like DDLJ and movies like 3 idiots rather than seeing them in masala crap movies
