Drum roll please! It's in the air. For the love of nation or for the love of sham, election season has got to be one of the coolest times in India when everybody participates. Erm, not necessarily by casting a vote, that is. But we came across these 10 types of people over the past few days. Where do you belong?
The Invisible Voter
He is like a more encouraging version of Mr India. He will give you hour-long lectures about which party you must support, and how voting is an essential part of your life. But the unfortunate part is that he himself NEVER casts his vote. He feels it is all too unnecessary, now that he has convinced a dozen to go on his behalf.
The Rich SoBo
Be it the South Mumbaikars or the Vasant Kunj richie rich, stepping out and standing in a queue is too degrading for this not-so-aam janta. They would rather sip their chardonnay and discuss the latest Porsche model while bitching about high taxes and corrupt politicians.
The Slacktivist
He is the one who waits for the voting day with maximum enthusiasm but never gets out of his bed to vote. For him, elections are extremely important, because, they mean two things: SLEEEP and HOLIDAYYY!
The Berozgaars
This man needs his daily quota of Old Monk (desi daaru) sorted, along with the chicken thigh to bite into. Never mind the political party that comes into power. As far as choosing the party goes, there's always 'Eeny, meeny, miny, moe' to help you.
The Pseudo-Intellectual
Now politics is not everyone's plate of pasta. Just knowing the dates of when a riot happened or what University this one candidate studied from is not license enough to comment and judge. But these voters think otherwise and they are the ones who have taken faffing to a completely different level.
The NOTA Lovers
All those campaigns, all those scary rallies, so many scary opinions...terrible, right? Why waste time weighing the credentials of each candidate when you have a simpler option of choosing NOTA? Perhaps, these are the kind of people who live their lives on a trial and error basis.
Hyperactive Social Sharers
The election season hasn't even come to full bloom before your Facebook Newsfeed starts buzzing with a certain someone's achievements and slogans. Thanks to these people, social media is gaining so much prominence that virtual life is getting bigger than your real life. Of course, we need to know if a certain PM candidate sneezed after indulging in an extra ice-cream.
The Drunk o'clock Voter
No, they don't even need chaar botal vodka to do the talking. Just one is enough to get them talking about the "unexplored" truths of every politician who wishes to even attempt to run the country. Their enthusiasm makes us teary-eyed (laughing at all the drunken antics) and next morning, all that interest in politics vanishes into thin air. Sigh!
The Online Trolls
He will NOT take anything against his preferred party and will go to extreme lengths to malign others. Because anti-campaigning rocks, yo!
The Outsider
This voter just can't understand the election circus but he can't stay away from it too. Caught in a Catch-22 situation, he's just waiting for polls to end and his life to begin again.
