Why Katrina Kaif is a misfit to play the lead in Bajirao Mastani?

We certainly can't imagine Katrina playing Mastani in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus which we hear will have Ranveer in the titular role. Yes, the Dhoom:3 babe has come a long way in Bollywood but we can't say the same about her acting, hai na?

We all know Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen on roping in Deepika Padukone to play the lead in his long impending project Bajirao Mastani. Apparently, the dusky beauty is still mulling over the offer as she has been approached by Karan Johar too forShuddhi. Since Ranveer Singh is going to play Bajirao in SLB's next wethinks Ms Padukone would be the perfect choice to plays his Mastani onscreen. However, we now hear that Katrina Kaif is also being considered for Bajirao Mastani. We dunno how true this piece of information is coz as per media reports Bhansali doesn't want anybody else but Deepika to play Mastani. In fact, the Ram-Leela director is even ready to adjust his film's date as per DP's availability. That's what the reports claim. Considering the dimpled beauty is such a fine actor, we aren't surprised that SLB is willing to go to any lengths just to get her onboard.

But if Sanjay Bhansali has made up his mind about casting Ranveer Singh's alleged ladylove, we wonder why there is so much buzz about Kat being a strong contender for Mastani's role. Doesn't make sense, no? But if this grapevine is indeed true then wethinks either SLB wants an eye candy for his film or Mastani's role doesn't require acting. If that's the case, then Ranbir Kapoor's special friend does fit the bill perfectly. Or maybe Sanjay thinks he can make Katrina act. After all, he is one director who knows how to get the best out of his actors. Now that's a noble thought but Katrina has been in the industry for over a decade and she still hasn't learnt the art of acting. Only a miracle can change this situation wethinks. There is no doubt about the fact that Ms Kaif is a star but what SLB needs is an actor for his coveted film. And more than anything, if Kat stars in this period drama, it would be funny to watch her speak in that exotic accent which she is yet to get rid of, while she would be dressed up from head to toe in Indian attire like a Maharani. Ahhh... now that would be a disaster, right Bollywoodlifers?

If that was the case, then she would have taken up RL, because SLB wanted to cast her back then too, before zeroing on Deepika.

I don't think Katrina is interested in BM at all. She has a fantastic line up of films in 2014 and 2015, she has no need of taking up a film that will unnecessarily keep gossip mags busy for months.

I think its SLB who is spreading these rumors, either to indirectly pressurize Deepika into taking up the role or to produce some extra buzz and publicity for the film, so that it remains in news till its release. He did that with RL too.
