Who EARNED their fans??

So I was looking at this Ranveer Singh's topic and realizing how many new admirers he has got lately...There was a couple of years back...that Ranveer used to be mocked on this forum for his goofiness his ugliness and what not...but he has come a long way...post RL Lootera Gunday...Ranveer is now hot property...so we can say that he has rightfully EARNED his fans unlike the SOTY kids who had fans swooning over them even before their first movie released because they were..oh so hot and oh so cool and oh so cute and because of all the hype KJO had created around them...so most of their fans were because of their looks and the hype that was generated for them...not because they really earned those fans...So who do you think are the stars who were not considered so great in the beginning but EARNED their fans because of their perseverance and hard work...The few in MY OPINION are...AB Sr Shahrukh Ranbir Ranveer Deepika Sonakshi...I will add more as they come to my mind...

I'll have to say Ranveer Singh, Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. All three of them are unconventional looking and industry outsiders but their talent and hard work got them places.

and all three had a big question mark on them...that they would even survive one movie 😆

Certainly all the stars who debuted before the mid-2000s when media hadnt exploded as much and stars didnt have PRs to manage their images. Among the recent lot its Ranbir, DP, Ranveer. The others like the SOTY kids, YRF's boys and girls are too new to comment.

Firstly its Sharukh... I never thought i would like this guy when i saw him on TV.. Later i watched Pardes in theater and was charmed by him... Later started watching his old movies and loved him even more... Off late not happy with his movies and offscreen too but still he would be the first in my list...

And recently Ranveer. When i saw BBB promo i was like who the hell is this guy and how did he get selected in a YRF movie.. I didn't like him after watching BBB too.. But off late, I started liking him more as a person than an actor.. Ofcourse i loved his movies but his offscreen vibrant persona earned him a fan in me... Love his masti offscreen... Kudos to this guy and hoping he reaches greater heights in future...

Rani for sure. She was often criticized for her voice, her height, & her weight. She still is. But acting speaks for itself.

Going strictly by your question, i'd say Dhanush..I remember how much the guy was mocked when he made his debut down South but the guy just turned everything around thanks to his acting prowess..Even when he made his Hindi debut, a lot was said about his 'rikhshawala' looks before Rajhanna released..But once you see his phenomenal performance in the film, you cant help but acknowledge his talent..
