Alia deserves praise for doing a good job for her second film, but why the comparisons to such legendary actresses? Meena Kumari, meryl streep and shabana azmi? Alia still has much to improve on and that will come by doing more movies.

And I agree that randeep isn't getting enough praise, he did a really good job in the movie

It is unfortunate that Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi are going over the top to promote her. The excessive hype has created a lot of backlash amidst movie goers. When a star gets too much attention, people get extremely irritated and start disliking the star or discrediting their work.

Alia is just two films old. She proved her mettle in her second film. She definitely deserves the praise and recognition. But I can see why it shouldn't be overdone. She is only 20 and two films old. Don't push her so high that the only place to go is down. Don't put so much pressure on her to keep giving good performances. Give her some space and time to grow on her own. Give her some room to make mistakes. Too much pressure would be detrimental to Alia.

Maybe she could be the next Meryl Streep, but for that she needs to be in the industry for over three decades and still be relevant and beloved.

Praise her performance. Wish her well. Go Gaga over Highway and her role. But just don't overdo it or hype a future, at least not at two films. Maybe when she has a dozen or so superlative performances we can talk.

before his. but his surname is HOODA, not Bhatt, sigh.

randeep hooda stood out for me...he was brilliant in each and every scene... he made me cry ..and i couldn't even relate to alia's character maybe coz she was looking way too young😕...she was good but not that exceptional as the way she is getting praised...poor randeep hooda is getting ignored when he is infact much more deserving of all these praises than alia...i never liked him but he was the best part of highway for me...i like alia but i couldn't find her character convincing.

You know those times when everyday we used to get threads about Deepika being some sort of Laxmi devi, yeah Alia's hype is somewhere in that zone right now. Not the boxoffice queen but the so called actor hype.

Alia may be very good and may even turn out to be a better actir than Shabana BUT the industry is a different place than it was decades ago.

There are just as many good actors or hard working actors as Alia , so she has to be in their league if she wants to survive.

Also, there are far more good scripts now, then there were decades ago. So the landscape has changed. There can be no comparisons. The actors are doing far better work early in their career , than they did eons ago.

Like someone said, charity begins at home. How about talking abt your own kids' talent.
