Kruti, I think the budget is less than 20 Crores all inclusive. It cannot be an expensive film...there is no star-cast as such, all the supporting characters are newbies and the film is shot only (and beautifully) in North India. The film has already recovered its cost by now and is holding pretty steady at the BO!Even everyone I know who saw Highway loved it! I just don't get why the critics were so harsh on the film?😕

I read somewhere that budget was only 8 crores. And producer Sajid Nadiadwala kept asking Imtiaz why aren't you spending money. I don't know if its true or not. But it must be on the lower side.
Alia Bhatt @aliaa08 Thank you for the love.. Thank you for your support thank you for loving #highway the way I do ! Thank you ! Love you guys !!!
Okay, just came out after watching this.
First reactions- Cinematography is very, very good. Picturesque locations, probably the strongest point of the film IMO.
Rahman's music is fabulous.
Alia is good in parts and so is Randeep. However the script looks a bit airy at times and the acting therefore doesn't convince you.
1.) Some of Veera's wacky parts- for example when she hid herself at the checkpost and her reactions afterwords looked forced and contrived.
2.) The transition from a scared kidnapped girl to a carefree girl on an adventure seems rushed, and IMO not very believable. Unless the director was aiming to show us a bit of a "screw dheela" , wacky girl whose mind could turn very quickly. Hint of Geet in Veera's character.
Practically nothing shown of the girl's family after she's been kidnapped. They make an appearance only at the end.
Angsty, but realistic ending. This could have been far much more.
I'd probably give this 2.5/5, could round it to 3. Felt the second half was slightly better than the first. Certain dialogues are good.
Not exactly a romantic movie, more of a road trip of two strangers who have suffered similar scarred childhoods and therefore bond together.
This won't be Imtiaz's biggest hit. A bunch of small joys in the movie, but it doesn't quite cut it as a whole
