Read this somewhere -

"This is Imtiaz Ali's brand of Indian cinema. When the film ends, you will be confused whether you liked it or not.

But by the next morning, you will start liking the film and by the end of the week, it will become your favourite and you will want to see it again and again."

Shockingly true😛 that happened after I watched JWM, Socha Na Tha and highway😳 though with highway, it happened within a few minutes😆

Highway Is Steady On Monday

Highway was steady on Monday but with low collections as it grossed around 2.25 crore nett taking the four day total to 15.50 crore nett. The drop from Friday is just 30% approx but collections were low on Friday.

The film should hold steady over the weekdays and finish with around 21 crore nett in the first week which is on the lower side as a lower costing film like Hasee Toh Phasee grossed 27 crore nett over the first week and that was just decent not great.

The second week will see competition from Shaadi Ke Side Effects another film targeting the city multiplex audience. The approx four day breakdown of the film is as follows.

Friday - 3,25,00,000

Saturday - 4,50,00,000

Sunday - 5,50,00,000

Monday - 2,25,00,000

Highway, are you serious? Is this really a movie, its a brilliance of movie to read, a perfect blend of movie and a journey that should never end. This is highway and it bought so much happiness and sadness to me. To me this movie, was never a movie, this was something which told about something, a character I could relate to. Moving on.. The silence of this movie taught us a lot. Especially, those scenes Veera sleeping in the grass, hanging her face down to the truck and having those fresh air, she had faith in them, she trusted Mahabir, apart from that Aadoo was amazing! OMG , I loved him throughout the movie. I hated that creep out of Mahabir gang who had bad -intentions. This movie is about human relations and freedom. Justice to the scene when Veera narrating her past, Tu- kuja scene, Mahabir's run- away, Sooha Saha scene and the climax, (where alia was with the best ) , The whole of pataka guddi. this movie made me cry a lot. I've would have never seen such wonderful movie over years. Thank you Imitiaz for this wonderful movie.

Alia was spectacular acting, which gave justice to such an amazing character Veera, this is such an amazing character I feel this is the best character thing in the whole bollywood industry. I never thought she'd do so good, but you proved me wrong. I'll be sure, I make myself you're fan. much love.

Randeep , oh god this man is soo amazing Mahabir the character silence spoke everything... I feel i could be veera, to have Mahabir, the scene in climax the dream sequence where Alia sees him. I guess, no actor could pull of this character unlike him.

Aadoo I don't know his name, I loved his character, may god give him much movies.

Imitiaz ali, best direction and story ever, after rockstar you made me happy and you always do that, love you. ARR's music was the heart and soul of the movie. Tu kuja made me cry, and sooha saha was best, Kahoon hai mai, spoke the whole story, I can;t stop praising you. Anil Mehta's cinematography was a standing ovation too, best of India.

I so, feel this can't be rated, this movie is all about what life is, and this needs feeling and too rate it I'd go with : Infinite stars, because you know its a masterpiece and the best movie I've ever seen.

P.s. - Anupama's review was crap! I guess even Taran Adharsh's was.

P.s.s - I keep my fingers crossed hoping this movie wins much love and awards.

The Telegraph is one of the best papers I've read!

Funny, but this one movie I *cannot* watch again & again. To me, it just isn't meant to be.

Lootera is a movie I can watch again & again & revel in it's simple beauty. Like a diamond in an antique, dusty box. 😊

This one is an Experience. The more you watch it, the more it pulls you & takes away a little from you.

Too dangerous. 😉

I watched Highway yesterday...And I'm thinking about Mahabir and Veera ever since then...What a movie !!!!

Alia Bhatt whom i thought was expressionless and dumb, to my surprise was superb...never expected such a superlative performance from her...👏

But the one who stole the show for me was RANDEEP HOODA...This guy is so so underrated...Mahabir was tailor made for Randeep...His silence, his anger and his feelings towards Veera was shown brilliantly...

I just hope Highway does good business...It hurts me terribly to see crap movies like Yaariyan doing well and soulful movies like Highway and Lootera being unsuccessful...

highway-what a film,way to go imtiaz to make a film so real in times when pretence rules,alia is so honest that her acting makes you howl will give her all awards this year for the scene in the end when she shouts at that uncle,randeep is simply brilliant again deserving of an award,music dialouges cinematography are ace too,deserves to be send to oscar...the best scene when alia dances on the english song with the man

The only thing negative about the film is that it is dark and makes you a little depressed in the end but that shouldnt stop anyone from watching this masterpiece

Highway Five Days Business

Highway started very low but shew some good growth over the Weekend but that growth didn't count much as opening itself was poor. Movie grossed 12.75cr approx over the Weekend and then added another 2.25cr approx on Monday while Tuesday is looking for another 2cr mark business.

Movie did saw a small drop on Weekdays as compared to Friday but opening was lower itself hence that nominal drop factor has no effect. Movie has collected 17cr approx in five days and Week One will close somewhere between 20-21cr which is much lower than what one can expect.

Movie has got good reviews from critics and targeted audiences also gave it thumbs up which can mean a decent second week total also but movie stands no chance of even below average at boxoffice. Below is the five days breakdown of the film with percentage drop over previous day in brackets.

Friday.. 3.15cr (0.00%)

Saturday.. 4.15cr (+31.75%)

Sunday.. 5.45cr (+32.55%)

Monday.. 2.25cr (-58.7%)

Tuesday (estimates).. 2cr (-12.5%)

Total.. 17cr
