Being a multi state classroom(we've student from all over india) I used to have this problem in english language.
I havent heard it by elders, but just my friends. I love their tone, so gentle, calm and sweet. Wow.

Born and brought up in NZ to a traditional Indian family with some modern values. Was taught stuff at home but it wasn't enough. Was forced to attend 9am Sunday Hindi classes held in Ramayan Sanstha place. Was there for a year and bit.

Remaining I learned from Bollywood films.
So I'd say 8/10 for Hindi. I mean I understand it and stuff but with shitty accent I screw up
EDIT:
Families have some knowledge of Bhojpuri and Bengali languages. I am clueless about either.
