Movie Review: Yaariyan is silly and predictable

Even before its release, Yaariyan has drawn a lot of attention, thanks to the refreshing music and good promos. But it's going to be a jerky ride for the debutant director Divya Kohsla at the box office as the film is full of loopholes and fails to connect with the audience.

A for Average story

Films based on college life score well at the box office. But Divya Kohsla has gone over the top, staging a film that has the stupidest plot. The biggest drawback of the film is that there is no surprise element. Within first 15 minutes, you will be able to easily predict the entire story. In the end you will proudly say, "dekha manine kaha than na." But remember your movie companion will also reply, "mujhe bhi pta tha."

No doubt, the movie has been shot in some beautiful locations, but the bad plot has spoilt everything. The film is so fast paced that it fails to establish a connect with the audience.

Emotional scenes are unintentionally funny. Don't blame yourself if you start laughing on scenes which are not funny. There is a desperate attempt to evoke the patriotic feeling, but there is no spark.

B for Bad performance

We agree, there is a certain liberty in Bollywood to create senseless action scenes where the hero could virtually do anything to complete a task. But Himansh Kohli is too innocent to perform such unbelievable action. At times, he appears to be a wrong choice for the lead role!

Other actor including Rakul Preet Singh, Dev Sharma and Serah Singh have given a below average performance in the film. Only actor who appears to be acting is Deepti Naval.

C se Copied stuff

While watching the films you will realise that there are many elements which have been copied from other popular films. For instance, there is a flirtatious girl in the film who will keep chewing a lollypop. She will remind you of Rakhi Sawant of Main Hoon Na. Cycle race will remind you of Student of the Year and the villain's entry of Singham.

D se Delightful music

But you can't completely write-off Yaariyan. What actually rescues the film is its music. If songs like ABCD and Aaj blue has pani are favourites of party lovers; baarish is on the play list of all lover of soulful music.

Only for the teenagers and college goers who believe in unbelievable. NO' to everyone else.
