Dhoom 3 has become the first film to $8 million in US/Canada beating the previous record of 3 Idiots by more than $1.5 million. The fact that just four films have crossed $4 million shows how big the $8 million number is.
The Christmas week is an advantage in US/Canada as well as markets like UK and Australia as three Christmas releases feature in the top ten US/Canada grossers but the advantage is not that much that Dhoom 3 goes and grosses more than double of most Hindi films.
The IMAX release also helped in US/Canada and the $8 million plus figure will be hard to top unless its a correct release date coupled with right content.. Below are the all time top ten grossers in US/Canada.
