All the people they considered for this movie...Vidya and John...or Konkona and Abhay...and eventually Sonakshi and Ranveer...somehow they make so much sense and you can see each of these people fitting into Varun and Pakhi's characters somehow. The eventual pair actually ended up being the best of three worlds...they had the mainstream presence, acting chops and the fitting, younger age to play these characters too.

I think I also understand the exact reason behind Ranveer's voice modulation in the movie now. That bullet removal scene is probably one among the best, if not the best of his career. This was really so much fun to watch...film-making is such a cool process. I guess films about the making of films can actually be more interesting than some films themselves šŸ˜†

Yes, I think the details behind the shooting of lootera might be done by VIkram to encourage the new film makers about how to go about making a movie. THere is so much planning and how a scene should take place. They have charts on drawing boards etc. It is really cool. Now take Ram Leela which was probably done with a lot of improv or so Ranveer has said. I think its good he got to work with both Vikram and SLB. THey gave him completely different experience.
BUt Lootera was really labor of love. That injury was bad for Ranveer, he was out for such a while last year that he didn't have any releases and made people think he was out of the competition. I am so glad he is back.

WORD to this...I honestly found the making of this movie more fun to watch than the movie itself...and that's probably true for many films...the whole process is so fascinating...it gives you a different sense of appreciation for it especially when you see TRULY creative and artistic people at work.

That white haired lady...is she Vikram's mom? She's so cutešŸ˜†

Konkona and Abhay would have been fab in these roles too...but I guess Sonakshi was right age-wise to walk that line b/w Paakhi's playfulness/brattish side in the early half and the colder, brittle version in the latter half.

You HAVE to see this movie again! I'm watching it again after seeing the making and it's even better than I remember...seriously...there are things I missed...nuances. It's so simple but lovely, and it makes sense. VM really is smart and I have to give him credit for that.

Yeah, they had so much trouble making this...years for the script to finally go into pre-production and then all the trouble during their schedules. Movies seem so 'flimsy' on the surface for the lack of a better word...kind of like timely entertainment that you watch and move on from? But it's actually so hard behind the scenes to make everything go right...all the people on set, doing different things...the amazing part in this line of work is definitely in the craft itself...but what you see in the public eye is only about 10% of it and not half as worthy of appreciation.

That is his mother...Dipa De Motwane and yeah, she's a boss šŸ˜† Did you see that bit where she was doing the twist with Ranveer!? šŸ˜† I had never seen Vikram's wife either...but she is charming and has a lovely smile. They make a great looking couple. It's cool that his closest family is into film-making too...what's better than a team like that.

Yeah, Abhay would have been pretty much pitch perfect for Varun's role...I really can literally imagine that. But so true that Pakhi needed that bit of immaturity/spoiled child vibe...and Sonakshi was perfect. It was so pointed after watching the making too that Ranveer works very hard, but Sonakshi is a natural...it almost seemed like she just had to be for this role. I don't think acting comes so easily to many people, but she needs good writing to highlight and provide that depth. Talent going to waste in this masala world

I taped it when they aired it on Sony a couple of months back I think and watched half of it but print kaafi edited tha...they cut out some scenes...hoping it shows up on Netflix soon in HD or something...deffo want to watch it again...it's one of those movies that left me unsettled for lack of a better word...in the sense that I couldn't have a full DEFINITIVE opinion about it...some bits I liked, some bits I was disappointed with at that point...but overall I couldn't say I disliked it...I liked it, yet was dissatisfied...then I watch the making and think maybe Motwane was smarter than I gave him credit for and there is a reason I'm left with that feeling...maybe that was the whole point.

LOL they are a good looking family then...the Motwanes, no? That's the kind of mom to have...so cool! lol...and yeah it's definitely cool that the whole family is into film-making.

Re: Sonakshi...yes she's a natural generally lost in the crowd of typical masala movies...and given the failure of Lootera, guess she's probably not gonna gather the guts to do another movie like this in a while either...Abhay would have been a brilliant Varun...I can envision it clearly too...but ultimately the casting did work out...Sonakshi-Ranveer shared some truly unique simmering chemistry in this movie.

Talent ek toh hai hi itna rare in aaj kal ka bollywood...upar se yes it goes to waste just as easily...such are the times we live inšŸ˜†
