The Vigil Idiot: Bullett Raja
Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Bullett Raja, starring Saif Ali Khan in the titular role, is one weirdass movie. It also features Sonakshi Sinha as aspiring actress Mitali, but the story really is all about the men (Jimmy Sheirgill as Raja's BFF Rudra, Vidyut Jamwal as good cop Arun and Gulshan Grover as the financier guy whose name I can't be bothered to remember), machismo and mullets. Now, if there aren't any layers to it other than the one about a guy wanting to avenge his friend's death, then this is the most boring film ever made. But if the nuanced undertones I detected were actually intentional, this is the most significant piece of gay cinema to come out since Brokeback Mountain and Mission Istanbul. Fair warning - the undertones were not intentional and thus, this film is about as significant as the amount of non-regressive traits in any character Sonakshi Sinha has ever played in her career.
