This must be the best thing to have happened after a very long wait. Though it is still not such a huge success like Chennai Express or for that matter Krrish 3, nonetheless decent monetary returns on the film will put him in spotlight after a very long time. The Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha Jodi has become a hit with the young cinemagoers who are making the film a success at the box office. Prabhu Deva's action romance has slowly managed to become a moderate success and has now stepped out of the danger flop zone. Much of the success of the film is credited to aggressive promotions, lilting soundtrack and expertly executed action, rather than any directorial or editing expertise in the film.
The masala movie is about a carefree youth who takes up a job with a drug lord and goes about displaying heroics and romances his heroine in the film. This type of formula, with the heroism aspect included is said to be a confirmed hit with a section of moviegoers.
The film has been warmly received in the domestic market. This is a big turnaround for Shahid Kapoor who had been laden with a string of flops in recent times. His movies since 2010 are Milenge Milenge', Mausam', teri meri Kahaani' and Phata Poster Nikhla Hero', all of which had been flops.
The same had happened to Sonakshi Sinha.after being warmly received for playing the simpering country damsel in Dabang, she went on repeating the same role in al her coming films. Her popularity gradually decreased, eventually leading to flops like Lootera', Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara', and last week's Bullett Raja'.
So, despite being panned by critics in a big way, the film managed to crawl out of flopdome and made Shahid and Sonakshi heave a sigh of relief. A major role in making the film popular among the mases are the two super hit songs, Gandi Baat and Saree Ke Fall Sa'.
And the film did okay in the opening week, with a large part of the box office collection coming in from the mass-dominated circuits. While a few circuits are still doing average work, weekdays collection would dictate what comes next.
