i guess if you guys watched the interviews and read articles you would understand that the movie is meant to be like that...they start with the physical attraction before falling in love and that is exactly what happened. so it is them having that attraction first that makes them fall in love. They dont have to show the process, it was obvious ...

Plus, ranveer and deepika already mentioned this thousands of time before the movie came out so it is not like it just randomly happened..

and as someone earlier mentioned it's either you love the movie or you hate it...

i'm saying this in general, not to anyone in particular..some people dont mind if there are kisses in hollywood movies but if if it a hindi movie, especially ones of people that they dont like or they just dont care about, then it is po*n...nice !!

True that.. All i could see was lust between Ram and Leela... The character development in leads was not connectable atleast to me..
However Songs were good, DP looked beautiful, Supriya Pathak and Richa delivered such a good performance.. Thats about it..

I do not comment much on reviews, but the crappiness of the movie has me out of my wits that I am going around everywhere and telling people to avoid this movie like a plague! My god! Only bhansali has the gall to make such senseless drag. He is so involved in the pallette that he has not realized the movie has gone to dogs! It felt like one of the medieval age punishments where ( apparently) they put you in a giant dhol/drum and beat it to the point you wet mad. I could literally see people clutching their heads while coming out of the theaters! Lets all find some alternate work for Bhansali bhai that we are spared!

Yes the film ws very wiered indeed..

problem was i never could connect with the lead pair and thus i coudln't feel sad at the end ..

Firstly, when does actually Ramleela fall crazily in love wid each other ?..
How come he gets a kiss and then lands up at her bed so easily ?.. esp when he is from the dushman clan.. there should have been some development atleast..

secondly, they kept doing garba for the sake of it.. the killing of both the brothers were out of the blue, like why and suddenly it happened.. again no connection..

The kissing scenes were forced enuff to be passionate, first half was filled wid so much intimacy and vulgar dialogues and scenes that it seemed grossly cheap..

at one point it seemed like both Ram and leela got extra doses of hormones, and thus they behave so horny..

overall, if u would be a fan of tragic love stories, then u will be disappointed wid this film, watch Raanjhana or Ashiqui2 atleast u do connect to the lead pair and feel for them unlike here..

and lastly ppl who r saying that the film resembles shakespear's RomeoJuliet, then it does, but then there is a difference between reading a novel and watching a film, a film has to be modified, u have to convince the audience that why the sequences r happening, ofcourse every1 dint read the novel like we did..
and plss stop comparing it with the dicaprio starrer romeojuliet.. that film made sense, atleast the lusty attitude made sense in ever aspect, and the leads carrie dit out convincingly unlike here where the male lead looked extra gross, ewww...

I think connecting with the characters is a more personal thing. Some characters don't have an universal connect and that's fine. But RL is a "modern" re-telling. I mean Omkara had a pre-marital love scene and item numbers...clearly adding a lighter tone than Othello ever had. And Maqbool was WAY more darker than MacBeth despite the witches parts being not so evidently incorporated. Likewise, Dev D was much darker and ppl called it vulgar but with time it garnered cult like status. See, RL for me isn't the greatest adaptation ever. But I do think labelling it as "po*n" is demeaning. It's cinema, fiction and a simple story that's being reduced to soemthing else b/c certain "fanbases" don't like Deepika or Ranveer. I'm not saying everyone, but a lot of people aren't being fairly critical considering there's so many item numbers and movies that have been way worse. It's a bit hypocritcal.

As for the Leo's version. AGREE! If you're gonna compare it then like I said compare it with the 1968. Leo's version added an element of "innocence" that one wouldn't expect if you did a thorough read and analysis of RJ.
